Some questions about upgrading from X3e to Platinum
Hi guys, I was thinking of upgrading to platinum. I am an X3e users and I really am impressed by it's stability. 1. I was gonna do the monthly payments but I havent got my studio pc connected to the internet, would monthly authorization be a problem? I know you can do offline intialization initially but would I have to do it every month? 2. Can I download Platinum to a hard drive using a computer connected to the net then install it on my studio computer which is not connected to the net? 3. Do I delete X3e or is it ok to leave on my machine and will Platinum automatically find my plugins? 4. Will my X3e projects transfer easily to Platinum. I would love to get some feedback from ordinary users like me? Thanks in advance guys.

1) Yes 2) Yes 3) You can keep X3e, the installer will find your plugins. 4) No transfer required, just open them and carry on. I'm an ordinary user.

Yes Karyn you've been extremely helpful. So I don't have to have my studio computer connected to the internet at all to use Platinum? Even for AD2. The upgrade to AD2 producer is worth the upgrade alone.

sausy1981 The upgrade to AD2 producer is worth the upgrade alone.
If you have AD2 already what you get is 3 AD packs, 3 midi packs and 3 kit pieces. If you don't have AD2, you get the above and by default, AD2 to run them. BUT, because of the way it works, AD2 will not run AD1 content if you already have AD1. The upgrade from AD1 to AD2 is a separate purchase and is not what you get in the Sonar bundle. Just an fyi...

Ha ha, It's been ok, I'm just waiting on the dimension pro download and thats me done, I see I'll have to copy plugin menus and templates into the folder that platinum uses.

There's no need to reinstall Dimension Pro (or Rapture) if you have the latest version, which if you're running X3e, you will have.

I was thinking that but the command center didn't seem to see I had them loaded.

Step through every manual setting you can find in the command center and you should be able to get it to install just like the old version, when it finds your current setup and uses all the current setting, paths, plugins, etc. If you re-instal Dim Pro you'll end up with Dim Pro files on your C: drive again (of course, that's not a problem, just annoying for some folk).

If your transferring to an offline computer you don't need command center. I don't use it. Because I have a very limited internet connection I just download everything from my account to my laptop at a friends house. I then transfer to my daw and install what is only what is needed. There are "installing Sonar offline" instructions somewhere, use that. You can't use command center offline. So there's an offline tab in the menu and a special activation procedure. Sonar is no problem but good luck with Adictive Drums and Melodyne. I think I had to go on line for those to register. So I just don't use them.

Yep, mine shows the same. All CCC is saying is "hey, you haven't installed DP via CCC yet"
