Something with the Snap Module
Hello guys,
I was just working on a track and I got stuck at something in the snap module. One of the indicators of the snap module changed to 'Whole Note' (earlier it was 1/4, I guess) and now when I drag any individual note of my midi input, the note does not auto-fit in the gridline or the beat at the appropriate places as if the magnetism effect is gone.
Can anyone tell me why the indicator at the snap module changed to 'whole note' or how to bring it back to 1/4? I tried Edit-Pref-Snap&Nudge, but could not bring the magnetism effect back. The project is on 4/4, 110 bpm. Sonar X1.
Regards, Kane

Right click on the value and a drop down list will appear for you to choose from...
As to why it changed? All I can say is after a decade of complaining about unusual, un-requested changes such as this it's still happening...
So I simply grin and bare it as it's not a priority...
Also note that it now actually has two values that can be fast toggled. I'm sorry I can't give that instruction as it's never seemed to work right fir me so I must be doing something wrong...
Maybe someone else will add this info here?

The snap module has a feature called smart grid that when enabled changes the snap setting relative to zoom, that is probably why it changed. To turn it off right click as Keni suggested and it is the first option in the menu, deselect it. That is also where you can select a new snap value.

<ouch> Thanks for reminding me of that teego... One of the first things I had to do when this feature appeared was to disable it in every template. Nice idea, but it doesn't select the settings I need... Ever? ;-)

Just now when I reopened the project, the musical time snap was back to 1/16 (which I earlier thought was 1/4). Thanks Keni and Teego. I was missing on the 'right-click' and could not see the drop down as I was left clicking all this time. Teego, what is the utility of the smart grid option and where is it? Is it in the Snap Module?

Smart Grid is not part of X1. It was introduced in X2.

Snap is pretty much like a snapping turtle .. it is an efficient beast, for certain purposes, but mean as heck. And mysterious ..

It used to be so friendly to me. The bakers have done much to improve the early x1 version, but I still find it less friendly than in the 8.5.3 era...
It's not too bad once I turn off the smartgrid... But I'm still uncomfortable with something when using PRV...It now seems like I'm always tripping on myself....
