This question gets asked quite a bit after every new version. Only you can really answer it. Consider these questions...

Does your computer system meet the requirements for SONAR 5?

Do you want to be able to take advantage of the 64-bit Double Precision Engine?

Is there something that version 4.* can't do that version 5.* can do?

Regarding the list of 5.0.1 fixes and updates, I believe the majority of those fixes were correcting items that were not a problem to most users.

Agreed! I didn't have any problems with SONAR 5.0.0, but the features in SONAR 5 made it a must-have for me.

Much the same as the others have said I guess ... what are you mainly using Sonar 4 for? MIDI? Audio? Only you can be the judge as to whether goodies like V-Vocal are worth it for you.

But for me (mostly audio) the upgrade to 5.0.1 is perfectly satble and well worth the cost for these features alone:

    - improved track comping
    - peak indicators
    - waveform preview
    - 64 bit audio engine

At the end of the day, it's up to you really.

    Best,

Hey Glaz mate... how the heck are you bloke??

Do you run in 64bit? I'd be interested to hear any opinions on audible differences. I was pretty impressed recently at the noticeable difference when tracking with 24bit compared to 16bit.

Probably the only major reason I'd switch from S4PE to 5.... BTW, last weeks band demo recordings were stunner with this software. Everyone very happy.

    Cheers!

    ASUS H270, i7-7700, JLM BA & 1290, LA2A Opto4, loads of guff.

My vote is for v5, but it really depends on your priorities. Things that have been bugging me for several versions have been ironed out in v5 - mainly the fact that setting up a softsynth to begin recording a track used to take about a bzillion mouse clicks. In S5, thanks to track templates, it takes one, maybe two. Slam dunk.

Other goodies are genuinely cool, for instance V-Vocal.

The question is, when you use S4 now, are you in anyway dissatisfied?
