Sonar 4PE Upgrade "Special"

Hmm. I just went to the online software purchase page to see the upgrade cost of going from Sonar 4SE to Sonar 4PE. Looks like it's cheaper to go from 3SE to 4PE ($229) rather than 4SE to 4PE ($299). Heck of a deal you got going there Cakewalk!

Craig this is a users forum where Cakewalk from time to time pop in to announce or give advice/comment on issues.

    229 v 299 seems a little unbalanced.

I looked at audio midi ..your required upgrade was the only one I couldn't see.

Give the Cake Sales folk a call and see if you can't work something out.

or were you just commenting on the price whilst looking generally

     Yes.

My comments were in regard to the Sonar pricing in general. I saw the coupon advertised on the main Cakewalk page (realizing it doesn't apply to the sales directly from Cake --- it was just curiosity), so I thought I'd venture to Cakewalk's online store to see what pricing is right now for upgrades. I was shocked to see that it costs less for a Sonar 3 SE user to upgrade to Sonar 4 PE than what it does a Sonar 4 SE user to upgrade to 4 PE.

I already have Sonar 4 SE, but have considered upgrading to 4 PE to get some more of the features. But, it almost seems as if Cakewalk isn't interested in giving 4SE users incentive with the current online pricing structure. Just doesn't seem right, does it? It's not a big deal to me, otherwise I would contact Cakewalk directly, but do know that they occasionally visit the forum and might respond.

Bermuda is correct, you should call the sales dept.

I'm most certain that CW wants to give you the same offer. It only takes a phone call.

I'm about to buy Sonar myself, and personally I've concluded I should just buy 4 SE for now, and upgrade to 5 PE when it comes out. Assuming it's not too far away.

Nuendo now has a pricepoint of 2500 dollar. Cakewalk is featurewize not far behind. If you decide to buy Sonar today I'd get Producer edition. I can't imagine that Cakewalk would go down in prize with the next version.
