Maybe V Vocal in your project has something to do with the issue, but
I don't have V Vocal in my projects that exhibit this issue.
It may be a factor, but I dont think it's the whole story.
It may have something majorly wrong in the insert soft synth dialog executable.
Or the synth rack .... or now I'm just shooting at the moon with a slingshot

I am going to wipe my system clean and start again from scratch. I've tried everything. I will not be installing any other audio app until I know Sonar 7 is running solid.

I think it would be a mistake to assume that every problem described in this thread has the same genesis. This particular DLL probably gets called from hundreds or thousands of different places in the SONAR code, so many different error conditions might be raised in that library. What they have in common is that they are all unhandled exceptions not foreseen by CW developers. Every error scenario they know about is another scenario they may be able to anticipate in code in future builds.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Agree with you there BitFlipr.

I can hopefully trap the instance, since it happens nearly every session lately.

I'm experiencing this problem frequently and it's getting really irritating. Is there a solution for it? I've tried to turn off the other soft synths in the synth rack but Sonar still crashes. It does work to add synths in the fx bin though.

I have several MSVCR80.dll files in different folders and also three versions in the same. Is there anything I should try to to them?

If there are no solution at the current is it possible to insert synths via the fx bin instead? If it is, how do I do that?

No, not yet. I'm doing the work around still (inserting VSTis in the fx bin) but I'm talking to my DAW builder, Sonica Audio Labs, about it who have been talking to Cakewalk. It looks like a total reinstall of Windows is the next thing to try.

I've now encountered this error. It happens when I try to unfreeze a track using EmulatorX2 as a softsynth (in the synthrack). I can 'get work done' if I paste the MIDI data to another track, but any attempt to unfreeze EmulatorX2, or load another instance of it crashes Sonar6.2.1.

From what I gater from reading this thread, the problem exists in Sonar7 also. Running on XPPro SP3 here, Intel Quad core, 2 gi memory.

I had this when, for some reason, Adobe Acrobat was trying to update itself in the background (didn't even know this service was on - and this is when I'm not even online). Once off, things are fine.

You're in an amazing state.

So stay there.

Acrobat you say? I've got to try that.

I've had this problem for a while now and Guy at Sonica Audio Labs is still trying to figure out what's going on (great people at Sonica by the way).

Oh, where did you turn off the update service?

Under "help", select "check for updates" - in the resulting dialogue, select "preferences" - uncheck "check weekly" (even though it was checking randomly, not weekly). I use vista32, btw.

You're in an amazing state.

So stay there.

I upgraded my Sonar 6.2.1 to v8 a couple of weeks ago and since then I haven't had any problems. Everything runs much smoother. I might have had a couple of crashes, but nothing I can't live with. I'm grateful.
