Sonar 7 Home Studio/ Upgrade to Sonar 8.5 Producer

Hoping this is the correct spot for this as I am new to the forum.  This seems to be so confusing, so I am hoping someone can answer my question.
I own Sonar 7 "Home Studio", and would like to upgrade to Sonar 8.5 Producer.  First is this possible?  The more I search for the correct upgrade the more confused I have become.  There is a Sonar 7 "XL", "Studio", "Home Studio".   Which is the correct upgrade for Sonar 7 Home Studio to Sonar 8.5 Producer?

Yeah, it can be a little confusing.
I believe you want the Home Studio to Sonar X1 Producer upgrade (that's an upgrade to Producer followed by a free upgrade to X1) for $299.

Thank you for the response.  i believe if you purchase it after a certain date they include an X1 upgrade.  i have used Sonar 8.5 demo and really liked so looking to up grade to that.

    Nonono, it's BEFORE a certain date!  Dec.8 i believe...

I just upgraded from HS4XL (just before they started dumbing-down HS) to 8.5 Producer.  I'm really liking the benefits.  Especially the Track Layers (not sure if they're in HS7) and the Vocal Strip package of FX.

Slugbaby - You were one of the big hold outs!

Yes, track layers are great and no they weren't in SHS7XL (I made the mistake of upgrading to that and then jumped to Studio and found I could work much fast just because of the layers and comping alone).

Slider - I second Slugbaby's remark.  I think, based on the wording, that the upgrade price goes up after December 8th.  Personally I'm not making the move right now because I really need to put the money toward some other items first like a nice pair of monitors (was going to do that months ago but then our furnace/AC bit the dust, my wife needed a new car, etc. etc. etc.).

Will there be an HS8XL in the future or does upgrades for HS7 go right to Sonar 8?  I upgraded to HS7XL because I thought it ran on 64 bit but apparently that's not the case.   Too bad they didn't give you the option of loading HS6 menus.

SHS7XL does run on 64bit OS, but it runs as a 32bit app.  many people on the forum use SHS7 on win7x64.

I do not believe there will be an SHS8; in a little over a week cakewalk is releasing Sonar X1 and it comes in Studio Edition, Producer Edition and Essentials.  I suspect that Sonar X1 Essentials will replace the Sonar Home Studio line and that SHS will not be supported after X1 is released.

It's true. I don't like to upgrade just because there's a new option.  If HS works for me, I'll stick with it.  And it did, but the sale price and X1 download made it too enticing. Besides, so many people told me it would suit my workflow (i think you were one of them) and peer pressure always wins eventually.
