Sonar 7 + Win 7 (64 bit) audio issues

Hi all, I just upgraded my computer to Windows 7 64bit, from XP 32-bit. Installation was great, and all programs are working fine. Except Sonar 7. I am having two big problems:

1. I reinstalled Sonar 7 Studio as 64-bit from the CD. Now some effects are missing? When I load an older 32 bit project, it reports missing effects, such as the Cakewalk Guitar compressor which I'd been using in that project. But, I didn't install any additional effects when I was using the 32 bit version. What gives? Are there missing effects in the 64 bit version???

2. A much larger issue here. I can't seem to get the audio to work. I'm using an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard, with the latest 64 bit drivers from M-Audio installed. In Sonar 7, I've tried both WDM and ASIO driver modes (latest ASIO4All driver). When I playback and record audio, or apply a Sonitus effect - even a simple reverb - the audio sounds all choppy and jagged, unusable. Almost sounds like the sample rates are mismatched. But they are not; Sonar is set to 44.1k, and the Audiophile sees 44.1k.

Can anyone help me with this stuff? I had Sonar 7 working great on the same computer on XP 32-bit, and now it seems the audio recording is totally broken. I'm very frustrated. (And I realize this may be an M-Audio issue, not a Sonar issue. Though, all other audio functions with my computer are working fine - iTunes, Skype, etc).

Thanks in advance.

Some audio effects might only be 32 bit DXs. If they don't have 64 bit counterparts, they won't load or even show up in your menu. Bitbridge doesn't work with DXs only vsts.

As for the audio, try increasing your latency buffer.

Post your system specs when you get a chance. Also have you run the DPC Latency checker? When upgrading from XP to Win 7 there are some BIOS functions that may need to be tweaked depending on your system that could cause major audio glitches. Things like HPET, CPU EIST (Intel systems) are all ignored by XP but can be problematic with 7.

    Thanks emwhy.

I doubled my ASIO latency buffer, from 512 to 1024 samples. Didn't fix.  The recorded audio now sounds totally distorted, too quiet, has constant clicks, and plays at the wrong speed.

Are these settings in Sonar 7 correct:
    -ASIO drivers (not WDM)
-Clock Source: Internal (when I choose "Audio" audio playback is uneven)
    -My soundcard reports 44.1k
    -Sonar project is 44.1k audio
    -24 bit audio

Also another problem: I just applied the 7.03 upgrade patch, thinking that might help my audio problems. Now, every time I launch Sonar, "Boost11" VST will not load. The VST scanner just hangs on Boost11, and I have to cancel it. Why is this happening? :(

I think I figured the audio problem out. The problem, I believe, was using the ASIO4All driver, instead of the native M-Audio ASIO driver, which I previously didn't know I had. This seems to have completely solved the bad audio issues.

My question now is, would it make more sense to use the M-Audio's WDM driver, instead of the M-Audio ASIO driver?

And I'm working around the Boost11 failure to load problem, by removing the .dll from its name in the VST folder. Which means, I no longer have Boost11. Is there a better solution?

Fixed the Boost11 problem too, as follows:

Reverted from Sonar 7.03 to 7.02
    Restarted computer
    Restored original filename of Boost11.dll
    Rescanned VST folders

All good. Thanks for the help everyone! :)
