Sonar 7 missing plugin mystery

Hi everyone, I just went through a complete pc upgrade and ended up switching to Sonar 7 PE from Sonar 2. Everything went fine except when I load my projects it says I'm missing the plugin "Timeworks Equalizer (SonarXL)"
I actually did install this equalizer with no problems, but the new install of the plugin comes up as simply "equalizer" in Sonar 7.

So I have the plugin there, but my old projects don't see it. Is there any way to point plugin references to a different place? Or possibly install the plugin in a different way?

I've been researching this for a little while now and I'm still not quite sure what to do next. Everything else is working perfectly at this point so this is my final hurdle. Any help is appreciated greatly.

Thanks!

Upgraded from: Sonar 2.0 XL / Win 98 SE
Upgraded to: Sonar 7PE / Win XP Pro 32bit

So you did install the timeworks from sonar 's disk and it is listed as just equalizer. Thats weird. I would just uninstall it and reinstall just the timework EQ again and not waste time wondering why or how it installed like that.

hey Mnos, that plugin must be very old, as I was looking for reviews and I saw 2002 on them.. It's directx plugin or vst also?

have you tried if it's a direct-x one, copying the folder or dll file into

    C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Dxi

    or the vst folder

    C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins

I'm new to sonar , so this is my first version. I guess people with far older versions have a better idea. So that's assuming it's possible to get it to actually work well due to the age of it

edit : cj would have a better idea.. or I do see the odd post from veterans from v1.. where are they

Thanks for the help guys, It is indeed an older DX plugin, but I'm unfortunately tied to it at the moment. Getting it to work means I won't have to re-mix a record. I've tried installing it several times and into several different locations with the same result. I wasn't aware that you could simply copy and paste the .dll to different locations so I'll definitely be trying that out.
Thanks again for the suggestions, I'll let you know what I come up with.

You will need to download and run the DirectXUtility to install the TImeworks plugs from the S2XL CD.

Remember to deselect "Program Files" to keep from installing S2.

Mnos, its a guess so not 100% cert.. it works with some things..so was something to try really. Since Phrauge, like CJ has been around a lot longer on here I'm guessing they have a far better idea.

I have a similiar problem. My favorite Piano sample is in Halion format. I have Halion 2, have used it for years. I have it loaded in Sonar 7, but Sonar won't find it. The only way I am able to use it is to open a project made in sonar 4, delete all other tracks, and use the synth that way. Funny how Sonar 7 finds the synth that was inserted in a Sonar 4 project, but won't find it when I open a new Sonar 7 project. By the way, it is also the DXI version of Halion.

Also, if the Timeworks plugs are installed correctly, they should be in a folder named "Sonic Timeworks". Mine is in C>Program Files>Sonic Timeworks.
