Sonar 8 Crash: Deleting Solo'd Instrument Track?

I got my first full-on SPE 8 crash last night, a real bad one that ultimately required a hard restart.

I had a VST Instrument Track (didn't make a note, but it was either SampleTank or Kontakt 3, I believe). I had solo'd the track, with DimSolo on, as I recall. Anyway, in that configuration, using the Synth View tabbed in the lower right, I clicked on the "x" to delete the VST while the green solo button was lit for that Instrument Track. Audio was not playing.

Hang. I ultimately could get Sonar to close (forget what it took exactly), BUT then Sonar would not restart.

Checked the Task Manager (Windows XP, SP3), and the Sonar 8 process was running already. Could not terminate it, no matter what I tried. So I had to shut down and restart to be able to use Sonar.

Any thoughts?
