Sonar 8 Makes PAR Excellence Awards!

I just thought some of you may be interested to hear this...

PAR Presents 2008 PAR Excellence Awards at AES

SAN FRANCISCO - Pro Audio Review presented its 12th Annual PAR Excellence Award to 40 professional audio companies who introduced signficant new products at the Oct. 2-5 AES Convention in San Francisco.

The winning products were chosen by a panel of audio engineers, professional end-users and reviewers who annually select the awards for Pro Audio Review. Products are chosen for the PAR Excellence Award based on their potential to enhance the quality of an audio professional's work. Criteria include innovation in design, performance/value ratio, enhanced features, and performance improvements over previous versions. Products must have been introduced after the previous year's AES Show, and must be shipping by June 30 of the following year.

For more information on the PAR Excellence Award, contact John Gatski, publisher/executive editor of Pro Audio Review.

Don't want to sound a damp squid but how could they have thoroughly reviewed Sonar 8 when it was only released on the 2nd of October? Secondly by reading the amount of items that are down for or requested for update treatment I suspect that their PAR excellence awards are not up to par.

Perhaps like many magazines and such who write reviews they would be given copies a few weeks before the public release date?
    Just a thought.

Pro Tools 8 got the same award, so it can't be that significant. It looks more like acknowledgement of a new product than anything else IMHO.

Just like all such lists, I'm surprised by what's on it and what's not.

Sonar 8? Absolutely, but why not the V-Studio 700?
And then the Steinberg CC121 but not the V-Studio 700?
And they left off my favorite: the SoundDevices 788T portable 8 track recorder. That thing was amazing with all the features they packed into it.

well the berg thing is out now, 700 isn't out till Jan next year.. also the price gap and what they both do is pretty massive.

Well, Sonar 8 is out now, but Prot Tools 8 isn't and it still got an award. So that logic doesn't stand up.

Kevin , well you didn't have to spoil my Christmas present (as you can tell I don't keep up with what digi have or haven't got out)

well they had to give every maker there some sorta award ... that's how that list comes across.. (and maybe they are exhibitors at AES, a strange coincidence that)

and since steiny haven't brought out v5 yet, you could hardly give sequel a big award compared to the controller..

which is more important sonar or the cakewalk controller?
