Sonar 8 or Cubase 5 ?

which one will be "officially" announced first?
which one will have the most improvements?

I expect someone to have a look into his or her magical sphere...

    educated guess..

there's new controllers / update / sound card out for "the other system" which I do own... and they also released an update recently.. they only have finite resources.. I'm pretty sure it was a winter time when I bought version 4.. as it was dark / gloomy.. that was hhm October or something.. but since they only did the update to 4.5 the other day it would be nonscene to release a new version so soon after.. I'm guessing thats to tied us over..

but my magic "8" ball says "yes" sonar would probably be out first.

then again.. impossible to say.. I work for neither company... so just will wait.

Cubase just dropped 4.5 I think, so I'd say Sonar 7.5 or 8 Sooner.

Sonar 8 will undoubtedly be first. No question in my mind, based on past experience. Cubase 4.5.1 maintenance update was just released a little over a week ago (not a paid update), and there are some people upset at the missing bugfixes. I was surprised myself. No chance in heck that Steinberg will release Cubase 5 before Sonar 8 at this point. I think I read in the Cubase forum that there might be one more Cubase maintenance update for the 4 series, although that could be after Cubase 5 is announced... and I could be wrong about that. But I think I'm right... Steinberg can't afford to have another Cubase SX 3 end of life problem on their hands, when they canceled a promised final update... so I expect Steinberg to have one last Cubase 4.xx release.... plus, Sonar 8 could literally be any week now. Definitely before the end of October, if my press release memory and forum activity rate radar are working. :)

Hmmm... my crystal ball isn't working at the mo'... I plugged it into the USB port, but it doesn't seem to be able to find the right driver. Damn Vista!

As I have bought every version of Sonar since its inception, it will likely be out in mid October or early November. I get tempted to skip a version, but they keep putting in these great little "must haves", so I persist. Probably will again....
