Sonar 8.5 Studio Unstable!

Hi I dont know what i can tell you about the problem i am having as i get no errors, warnings nothing you can do a few things in an open project but then when you hit play the whole application freezes and thats it! Machine and Application have worked well together for a long time no changes to hardware or software and all of a sudden this? The only thing it did odd was a couple of times i went to open older projects and i got a "Bitmap Missing" error but that stopped after a reboot! PC Running XP SP3 Dual core 3.0Ghz and 4gb Ram Delta 1010 soundcard. Oh one other thing and its only an idea but older saved projects dont seem to be a problem but new ones created from one of my project templates seem the only one s effected. Can these become corrupted?

99% of the time problems like that are soundcard driver related.  have you updated the 1010's drivers lately?

bitmap missing might indicate something worse wrong tho.  and yes, I'm sure project templates can become corrupted.  what happens if you start a new project with the NORMAL template (assuming you didn't over write it with your own version)?  or if that's the one that's corrupted, what happens if you start one with one of the other templates?

M-Audio havent released a new XP driver in years for that soundcard. Just tried it with the normal template and it seems to be OK but that would take more testing to be sure.

the latest driver for the 1010 for XP SP3 is from 2007, so you are correct, just as long as you have the latest one.

my guess is that it's likely the template, tho.

It would seem your computer is living on borrowed time. Not many XP machines found anymore. I have noticed on a couple of forums similar threads like this and they all have those delta cards. Might be time to do a little upgrading. How old and how full are your hard drives?

I've had freezes when I had looping on but mistakenly had the same start & stop times.

Nothing to do with the PC or XP for that matter There still isnt a more stable platform for hardware of that vintage though I am buying a Motu 8pre later in the year for additional Mic inputs. As it turns out it does seem to be a template issue as older copies of the same templates ive been using seem to have fixed the problem.
