Sonar 8.5 and Groove Agent 3?

Anyone have experience with Groove agent 3?

I've used the groove agent 1/2 earlier (some years ago now) and it was kind of good for what it does.
I can see the GA3 havent been updated since 2006 or something, but I can buy it for about 90$ (educational license).

Will it work nicely with sonar?

I have had mixed results with GA3.
Since the original developer Paul Kellet moved to Avid with its purchase of Wizoo it was coded by another developer.  I fall back to GA2 a lot but that is not to say GA3 is unusable in SONAR.

There are a lot of nice grooves and sounds in the instrument you just have to discover how it fits into your workflow and get used to some of the quirks it sometimes presents and that only comes by using it in your unique situation.

It seems like a good price for $90.  I wish Steinberg could get back behind it and provide us with a nice update (possibly 64 bit compatibility)

I was a user of Groove Agent from version 1 and upgraded over the years to version 3 - but to be honest I find the product now too under developed to be used very often - I can't even remember the last time I did use it.
There are some good ideas in V3, but to my mind they have not been developed to their true potential.
If I remember correctly there is something called Secret Agent I think (as I said long time since I used it) and you use this module to add to the basic groove - but again if I remember correctly, you cannot output any Midi from this module, so whilst it sounds good it's impractical to use.
Instead of wasting money on this product, which I don't think has been updated for ages which probably means they are about to drop it, I would go for one of the better products such as Addictive Drums, Ezdrummer, Kitcore etc. Or use Session Drummer.
This is all such a shame as I think if only Steinberg would develop Groove Agent propelry, iron out the bugs, make it stable and develop the modules to their full potential, it could be a great product and different from all the other drum packages

Thanks guys, I will be looking into the suggestions.

Might wait with the Groove Agent - as Nigel is touching the Steinberg Groove Agent was (in 2002...) a major difference from the other options (which was to buy emagic sample cd's... :) ) and its a shame it isnt developed further form this...
