Sonar 8.5 and X1 Windows OS and Hardware compatibility

Hey - maybe I should have posted this under Hardware section....but...

Just built an i7 970 machine running Windows Home premium 64bit

I own Sonar PE 8.5 and X1....

Would prefer to use 8.5 until I am more comfortable switching X1 (my projects initially barfed on X1, and I have not yet run X1b)....

So the question is:
Does 8.5PE take advantage of the 6 Cores and 64 Bit OS? (I could not tell on the Cakewalk support page for this  (they only mentioned 8.5LE).  If not core compatible, do you know of 8.5PE having issues running in 64bit?

My understanding is that X1 is fully ably to run 6 cores and 64 bit.

Recommendations? (and thanks All!)

Jim

Please disregard this post.  8.5 installs at 64 bit.

    Thanks/

I recommend you Install X1b and give it a go. It will run on 6 cores, 64bit.

I read somewhere both in here where a user was running six cores with it (X1b), and on cake's website, that it is optimized for today's 6-core machines and above. You shouldn't have any problems, but if you do your 8.x.x version will still be there and working. Mine is on my measly 4-core machine.

Whether 8.5 uses all six cores, that I do not know. It does use all four on my machine.

Those folks having problems running both (8.5 & X1b) versions on the same machine were reported to have C++ runtime errors (out of my field of expertize) which once fixed, got them going again. If you have this problem you can run a search here and find the fix.

Most of what I've read here has folks ok running both versions of Sonar. Hope this helps !!
