Look for posts by CJay... He's got a real grasp on AudioSnap.
Here's some notes I think I copied from him for reference:
To change the tempo of an audio clip:
Enable Audiosnap (F12) with the Clip Follows Project option in Autostretch mode (set the mode in the drop-down next to the button before enabling it).
Just adding for clarification to the "Clip follows ..." option: The idea is to set this mode on the clips before changing the tempo. Really, the option means "Clip follows changes ..." Hopefully the drum track matched the original project tempo, or else this will be kind of complicated.
What I was trying to point out is that you should set the mode not only before changing the tempo, but before enabling Clip Follows Project. Otherwise, SONAR will reset the clip tempo map to the project tempo - essentially quantizing it - which might not be a good thing to do, depending on how tightly it matches the the project timeline and whether you want to preserve the natural push and pull.
The Autostretch mode doesn't pay any attention to the clip tempo map, and just stretches/compresses the whole clip proportionally to the change in project tempo, whether the two match or not.
How to Remap an audio track
You can do this quite easily.
Set up a Midi track which responds to your keyboard
Select a patch that has virtually zero attack and minimal delay
Now arm the track and whilst playing your guitar track, tap out the rhythm in time to the guitar
CAREFULLY examine the Midi track and make sure your hits correspond to the guitar, nudging them where necessary.
With the Midi track selected, engage Audiosnap [F12] and choose the "set project time from clip" (This wording might not be exactly right - I'm not at my DAW)
What should happen is that A/S will set a tempo map for the entire project based purely on your Midi tapped out part.
The only way you will learn it is to try it.
