Sonar 8.5.3 & Emulator X3

Does anyone have Emulator X3 running on Windows 7 64? I recently tried to reinstall my 0404 and Patchmix so i could run my X2. The plan was to keep using my vs-100 drivers though. Everything installed but my X2 wouldnt run - so i figured i'd upgrade to X3 if it can run on Win 7 64.

i looked into it as i ran into the same problem... Emu (and people on the Production Forums) say X3 willl run on Win7/64 bit...the upgrade is $199, but i've decided to go with NI's Komplete 7 for now... i'll consider X3 at a later time (or if they drop the upgrade price)...

incidentallly: my old Emu 1820 interface works fine with the beta Win 7 drivers...

emu x3 is now end of line , and is cheaper now. I try to avoid end of line things if it states that.

from the Emu Production forum ("Emu Bruce"):

"Ok, Time to get the facts straight.

As I have stated several times over the past few months, Emulator X3 is not End of the line or End or life. If this is coming from Digital Village, then they are misinformed.

While Proteus X LE, Proteus VX, Proteus X2, Emulator X and Emulator X2 work for most users as a VSTi in Vista or Windows 7 32-bit versions and in stand-alone mode, they do not always work in Vista/Windows 7 64-bit in stand-alone mode. If a previous version works for you, then that is of course good for you, but we have no support for using a previous version of Emulator X or Proteus X in Vista or Windows 7. X3 is the solution we offer for use in Vista, Windows 7 and for 64-bit use.

These earlier versions are only tested and supported for use in Windows XP 32-bit. Proteus X LE, Proteus VX, Proteus X2, Emulator X and Emulator X2 are 32-bit applications and will never work as VSTi in XP x64, Vista x64 or Windows 7 X64. Only our Emulator X3 is fully 32-bit and 64-bit Vista compatible and preliminary testing is showing that X3 is working just as well in Windows 7 x64.

Summary: X3 is the solution we offer for use in Vista, Windows 7 and for 64-bit use.

We do not normally comment on future product development and we have no comment about X4 at this time. X3 W7 testing is still in progress and going well. No performance showstoppers. There can be some issues using RAID-0 and RAID-1 configurations that we may or may not be able to resolve. RAID configurations can get complicated and we need to spend more time testing and gathering data.

There are no drivers, and have never been any drivers associated with any version of Proteus X or Emualtor X. Drivers are almost always specific to hardware products.

Note that we wil likely be dropping support for XP64 in general as our Windows 7 suport grows. XP64 was never really a fully mature 64-bit OS and the majority of the top DAW programs do not support it as well."

when I was looking to buy a sampler.. I did look at x2, it took them  (emu) 3 attempts to answer a very simple question, before I bought.. and well that was a bad indicator for me.

Kontakt for me, well komplete.. buying kontakt on it's own is a bit much.

yellow tools would have been my next choice though if Kontakt wasn't about.

Emu people say that Emulator X3 -is- THE product for Windows 7, both 32 and 64 are included.

It's pretty clear to me. They have also removed the hardware lock they used to have on earlier products, which consisted of having on EMU brand hardware connected to the system.

If no one who has theX3 has views from another earlier product, they would not be too meaningful to me.

I hope some who have it as you ask do reply..Or try other forums, or ask the same question to the Emu support people.

I would like to hear about this too, since I use the VX but on WinXP-32.

Thanks for posting your query, WHYZ.

@ Fog I prefer the X3 to Kontact because i like the workflow and it actually samples. Also i have a ton of beats done in X2 that i cant access now. Ive had little to no issues with X2 even though all software has bugs, its pretty damn stable. I guess i have to try and sell my X2 and 0404 now. If anyones interested - inbox me! ($200 for both + Shipping)

    Peace & Blessings
