Sonar 8.5Pro to X1Pro upgrade....to X2Pro. Questions

So I just received my 8.5Pro-X1Pro upgrade. Can I just register the X1 and then download the X2Pro, or do I have to do the full blown install of X1...just to uninstall in a few days to save HD space. If I can go the registration route, I can't find where to fill out the info on this site. Could someone please point me in the right direction.

Thanks
Kev

Re:Sonar 8.5Pro to X1Pro upgrade....to X2Pro. Questions 2012/10/11 23:15:02 (permalink)
X2 is a full install, and is not in any way dependent on the presence of X1 on your system.

So - no need to install X1 first - meaning ff the upgrade to X1 qualifies you to get X2 then you can just go through the process of downloading and installing X2.

I would imagine you have to register X1 though, so that the system knows what you are eligible for and all.

To register X1 without having to do it through the installation process, go to this link and complete and submit the form online: http://cakewalk.com/Register/default.aspx

Hope this answers your questions - please post any further questions and I will try to help,

Bob Bone

It has a number of different parts -8 or 9 I think.  Some are bigger than others.  It will also depend on your download speed.

I think it took less than 30 minutes on my computer.  I just watched some TV while it was doing its thing.

It took me over 30 hours. It reported 10 times slower speeds than downloads from elsewhere.

Never have I ever managed a 30min Sonar download.

Even at my place of work with a really fast connection, it took a working day.

Sorry - I have 105 mbps service.

I am SOOOO sorry for the stupid time I posted, which nobody else will likely be able to realize.

I think I was a bit brain dead when I posted that.

OK, I registered my X1Pro upgrade and received a product registration code, but when I go to the link to the X2Pro free upgrade...add to cart...proceed to check out, I get a message saying I need X1 to quilify. Does this mean I have to wait for the registered copy of X1 to show in my account before I can "proceed to check out"?

Give Cakewalk tech support a call and they should be able to verify your qualifying and get you set up with X2.

I guess the technical support folks can help you Monday - it's a lifetime from now, but they should get you neutered, or whatever you needed them to do for you - hee hee.

They fixed registration stuff for me with X2 - well almost.  My Rapture 1.22 wasn't showing up, but they did something and now it is, but my X2 is still not there yet, although my DSF Strings Expansion Pack is there.  (Because my X2 wasn't showing in the registrations, they just manually pushed a link for me to download the expansion pack.  They said there were some issues internally that they are working on for these registration probs, so just call them and I am sure they will take of it - even if it means manually).

Re:Sonar 8.5Pro to X1Pro upgrade....to X2Pro. Questions 2012/10/13 06:57:53 (permalink)
I believe that some of the really long DLs were because of an Internet Explorere issue. For me I started with IE and was 5 hours into the DL of the first file when I cancelled it out. I installed Chrome and ran the download through it.

IIRC it was still a couple of hours for all files.

Regards,

Mike
