Sonar Artist - Lame encoder/mp3 encoder

So I am still trying to get sound out of my converted midi file.
In reading and reading through this forum. I have come across the LAME encoder. I have questions:
1. I don't have this so could this be the reason the audio has no sound.
2. If So, does this come with the COST of Sonar artist or do I need to purchase it?
3. If yes to the above. How do I install it. Is there a step by step guide that is conclusive.

Please help me. Im ready to give up and ask for my money back.

No, the encoder is only used to convert WAV format to MP3 format. Although I did not fully follow your previous posts, there were plenty of good advise given. First, your MIDI should be able to produce sound by (following those advise) playing it back in Sonar Artist. If not, you won't be able to make a working WAV file. And up to making the WAV file, the LAME encoder is not part of it.

The actual LAME encoder is free, and for myself, I use Audacity (free) with LAME encoder. I simply export WAV out from Sonar, and use Audacity to covert the WAV to MP3. There is an option to purchase an MP3 encoder from Cakewalk (not sure if it's LAME or not) which makes WAV to MP3 more direct.

Did you follow the previous thread suggestions ? Post more feedback, the more we know about your system and setup, the better a solution can be suggested. If you're new to Sonar / DAW, I'm just suspecting you may not have the right sound card / driver setup correctly.

For a basic test, can you drag in a working WAV file (that you can playback on your system using a default media player) and see if Sonar Artist is able to play this file too ?
