Sonar Crashes and loses the hardware until reboot.
Hi everyone, Thought I would make a post on here to see if anyone else has experienced what I am seeing with my new PC and Sonar installation. Every time i try to do any kind of multi tasking between saya a web browser and Sonar itself the program crashes and dumps the Line 6 Toneport UX2. To start with I thought this was an issue with the Toneport itself as Line 6 were not great at releasing drivers but then noticed that my system sound was all still there even after Sonar had lost it. Seems the only way to get Sonar to notice the hardware again is to do a full system reboot. Has anyone else experienced this and has anyone got any tips. I've alredfy checked the USB power options and made sure every PC driver is up to date. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks Matt Burnside

Hi. Which driver mode do you use? Do you have share drivers with other programs checked in Preferences (P), Audio, Playback and recording? All the best.

yea, agree with Zargg - definitely sounds like an audio interface driver issue / driver sharing issue.

Hi guys, Thanks for the advise. Until now I have not had any drops on the hardware without Sonar also being opened but that's just happened so can turn my attentions else where now. Rolling back to an earlier version of the driver for my Toneport UX2 but it is strange as it's only started doing this recently and Line 6 have not released drivers for the Toneport since 2015. I shall keep you updated with my findings and thanks again.

If you have ASIO drivers selected in Sonar then you must also select Share drivers in Sonar. You then need to give focus to the program you want to hear.
Windows programs CANNOT use ASIO.

In the end I set the driver to be shared but also rolled back the driver for the Toneport. Seems stable for now so thanks guys. This is a brand new PC and install of Sonar so anyone got any other tips on getting the best performance wise? I think I've stripped down Windows as much as possible.

You might already have done this, but.. Set power options to maximum (no sleep mode). Go through Windows startup programs, and disable the programs that are not needed. Don't know what kind of pc you have (laptop or desktop), so unsure about BIOS options. Others will know far more

Hi all, unfortunately I'm back here again. So I rolled back the UX2 drivers last time which seemed to help a little bit (probably a placebo) Now once again I'm getting times when the audio just stops working and the DAW totally loses the UX2 sound card I am using, I know it's old but I never had this issue with Windows XP. Anyhow among this issue there are a couple of other things I have noticed. Every now and again I'm getting blue screens from Windows, I've asked over on the Microsoft forum for help but not getting anything in a hurry. I'll provide the same .dmp file I've given them on the off chance someone can see a glaring problem though. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AtNs-OJLg32DgUzaxpGSdVl_8m-d Secondly, I've noticed that Sonar seems to struggle with a fairly minimal amount. I've currently got a track I'm working on which is 4 session drummer channels, bass, snare, hats and toms, one guitar track, 6 synth instrument tracks and I'm getting all sorts of pops and clicks when playing back to get the mix right. There are a few effects turned on the channels also but I didn't think this was a massive amount? Any advise here is again appreciated. Also to try and better work out the problems I've dropped my PC spec and gear below. Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3HP AMD A10-7870K Rdeon R7 (4 Cores clocked to 4.49GHz) 8 GB DDR3 RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Line 6 Toneport UX2 TOSHIBA 1TB HDD Coolmaster GX750W Blue Windows 7 Home Premium Sonar AKAI PRO LPD8 YAMAHA PSR E323 Once again thanks for any help anyone can offer.
