Sonar LE save as MP3???

Newbie question: I have just bought hardware that comes with Sonar LE.  I need to know if it will save directly as MP3 files or do save as a .wav then need to convert with another program?

    I don't think you can save as an mp3, but you can export as an mp3 if you have the mp3 encoder.
    I'm not sure how they are doing it now, but in the past, you had a 30-day trial version of their mp3 encoder and after that you had to pay a licensing fee to continue using it.

    Correct, there's a 30-day trial period. It's explained in the help file.

    @bassbone1: Good starting point if look for information by the way, try a search on "mp3" for example. ;-)

    But you can use an alternative mp3-Encoder. Look for "External Encoder Configuration Utility" in the "Utilities" menu. There were some posts explaining the configuration in the past - search the forum.

    I usually export to WAV format and then use Audacity to encode as MP3 using the LAME encoder. The price is right since both Audacity and LAME encoder are open source (Free) :)
