Sonar: Love and Hate

I love the way I can group tracks together. I like the ability to do MIDI tweaks. I feel comfortable working with Sonar- just upgraded from X1c to Platinum.
I hate the fact that my old BUN files are forever lost. How can I forgive Cakewalk for that?
I had a lot of work in those .bun files. Why isn't there some kind of conversion app for them?
I have some problems being organized with plugins/folders. Maybe there could be a better
Sonar structure for those. Some folder locations work, others don't.

All of bun files from back when I was using Gigastudio 3 open up.  I no longer store projects in a proprietary format. You could try renaming the extension .zip and see if they open.

Back everything up.

Upgrade to Sonar X3E. Open you bundle files and save as projects or CWB files. Then open and save in Platinum.

KiteKrazy,
there is nothing wrong with the BUN files.
SP can still open them up.  Matter of fact, I opened one up from Pre X1 days and it worked just fine.
Of course my set up was a little different so Sonar let me know I didn't have those VSTs anymore on my computer but the file DID open.

So I guess the moral of the story is... if there is a hole in your bun, plug it in?

Old bundle files should definitely open in Platinum if they did indeed open in X1.
If not send a link to a sample BUN file that doesn't open and we can look into it.

Some folder locations work, others don't.

That sounds like the place to start troubleshooting, not SONAR.

Still waiting for sonar to reply after 3 days now

Sonar Pro cannot read all recorded song Sys ex data from Tyros 5  to send back to play It's Internal sounds.
Something wrong with Sys ex

A Cheap program at £50 One Man Band can read the Tyros sys ex data and have to use Its piano roll to edit, but is a little more basic.
I and other good tech guys from other areas cannot solve this ,but know whyIt Is happening.
Something to do with sonar tinkering with Sys ex data.I am not a tech guy ,but would like sonar at least send the correct data out so the Tyros can read It.
I am In two minds about Sonar for the price you pay

Iomega Zip drives.
Now there's a trip down memory lane - a massive 750 meg, 40 bucks a pop and it only took a fortnight to load your samples! Then there was the challenge of working out how to a rackmount one of those suckers:)

What makes you think they have a Tyros for testing?

Try increasing the number of buffers and milliseconds per buffer in Preferences. I've never had a situation when SONAR didn't parse Sys Ex correctly and couldn't play back exactly what it recorded.

Why is that necessary? Isn't the Zip disk already broken, so you don't have to do anything?
