Welp, I shore wish Landr was grander...but it made that gals voice sound like a belt sander. Perhaps they just want to pander to every goose and gander who think if it's not louder...it's blander. Ifn ya ask me it's just a load of audio dander. Please pardon my candor.

I see a LANDR entry in the Windows control panel, Programs and Features. I am going to give Cakewalk a call Wednesday to see if it will break anything if I uninstall it. It's just more crap I don't need or want... I really feel we should have been given a Choice whether we wanted to install it or not.

Believe me, I don't want to nit pick the fine folks at Cake Central...but adding Landr to Sonar is a lot like adding Gobbler. An iffy company and premise that actually costs the end user more money and, to some, is of questionable value in the first place. Sort of like giving someone a puppy for Xmas. Vet trips and trips to the dog food and toy store are in your future...like it or not. And I am a lifelong dog lover. This is something you should decide for yourself. Of course you don't have to take advantage of this in any way...but I bet they had to have some sort of financial arrangement to make it happen...who knows to what, if any, benefit?

Did you do a manual install of Newburyport ? I'm wondering if it might not be possible to deselect it during a manual install. I'll wait to see what happens with this (and other things) before updating. I'm in no rush, Manchester works fine.

I used C3 to install the Sonar update and the 'user manual' update. I did not see anything that would have allowed me Not to install Landr. Good thought about trying a manual update, I'll ask about that as well.

I do manual installs from my account in the store rather than CCC and there is an option to install Landr or not to.

I can see, from the last two updates, which the previous one normally would have been a "major update", that this "subscription" model is killing the excitement of "upgrading". Don't hang me yet - let me explain... They've done a great job, and it's nice to get "something" every month, but the anticipation of getting "new stuff" when purchasing a new edition every year, and the need to "entice us" to re-up throughout the year, seems to have died a horrendous death. Normally we would have gotten a "package" of new features all at once, then dive headlong into them to learn them, but now we get them "dribbled out to us slowly", so I'm not really sure which way is better, piecemeal or lump...but it sure seems that "now" there is no "build up of excitement and anticipation" that used to be there...it seems that the element and build up of "excitement" that used to precede a new release has all but died for me with the new model...add to that the fact that we only had to "re-learn" once a year, and now, sort of, have to do it every month, and it becomes kind of "counter-productive" in an odd and round about way...( I know it's not "that much" so relax, it's just a thought) I know many love it, and there are a lot of new features slated to be "dribbled out" all year...but, for me, it has kind of killed that "build up" of "excitement and anticipation" that always preceded the "upgrade every year" model, and it just seems to me now that that "thrill is gone"... Just my feelings, and, of course, YMMV...

I see advantages, disadvantages and a coupla flaws in the new model. Overall I think it's a net positive. LANDR? Really? The install isn't optional? Not the best move IMO, but not a disaster either. Not futzing about with installer options prolly means this tied up marketing more than the developers, which is a good thing.

I set CCC options to verbose and was given the option to uncheck LANDR. I didn't. I let LANDR install. However, when I tried to upload a track it failed twice after getting about half way thru. I'm sure my sub-Mbit uplink speed doesn't help, but I don't have enough free time to waste troubleshooting basic files xfer via the internet stuff.

I just finished speaking with the Cakewalk Support guy. -It is safe to uninstall Landr, you can actually do the uninstall from windows control panel/programs and features. At this point it should not re-install itself unless you tell it to in C3. -You can de-select the Landr install if you have the 'Verbose' box checked in C3 or if you download the update from your account and do a manual install. After checking we found that my C3 settings had been changed with the last C3 update hence the reason I was given no choice not to install Landr. It appears my initial assumptions were wrong and I apologize for any stir I may have created. I am Very Thankful for the Cakewalk Support Team as they are worth the entry fee alone! Kind regards, Rick

I am never interested in an add on that will eventually cost me money or will go out the network. Trial software is not a feature. It is a commercial. I don't pay for commercials. I fully agree with Dcumpian, I don't upgrade anymore until the forum has given it a full blessing. I will remain open minded about the subscription/membership/update setup, but so far I'm not real excited about this new direction. All I ask for is a solid product that does what it is supposed to do and is stable. The bells and whistles should be separate, optional and with no strings attached whatsoever. No Gobbler/LANDR garbage.

rtucker55 -It is safe to uninstall Landr
I believe it will still show up as an export option and in the utility menu. If you don't want to see those, I think it is possible to remove them either by directly editing the registry or deleting the "LANDR Master" entry in the Cakewalk External Audio Encoder Setup utility.

The Cakewalk External Audio Encoder Setup utility didn't remove the Landr entry in the utility menu for me. Not a biggie yet but the Plug-in Mgr entry is right below it and I use it frequently. It's just a matter of time that I will get to see what happens when I click on the Landr entry... Note: I also tried a roll-back but that did not remove the Landr entry either.

Thanks for your investigation and running comments. I came back here to mention that someone had manually installed and seen the option, but I see that you've found that out on your own. I'm really glad LANDR in an option and won't be installing it. I more than appreciate all the bundled plugins we've received over the years, but I'm not crazy about being bothered with ads for services that I'd have to pay extra for (like Gobbler). I hate advertisements in general and will forego just about any function to avoid them [I just listened to a report on BBC describing the possibility of paying internet marketing companies directly to not be bothered by ads. That's really, really crazy.]

I have tried LandR just to see what it would do. It was with the free mp3 preview. And what it did was make my mix louder and adjusted the eq. I really didn't like what it did to my mix.
However, I received an email from someone at LandR with suggestions on how to make my mix better and would help LandR do it's thing better.
I haven't followed up yet, but plan on it. I'm open on this one. So far it seems they want to work/respond to users.
