Sonar Not Finding Aether

I’ve installed a number of VST soft synths before without issue, so I think I know the drill in getting Sonar to recognize new VSTs.  But I just got the Aether reverb (a purchased copy, not a demo) and cannot get it to be recognized by Sonar after installing it.  I tried this in both Sonar 8.3 and the latest version of X1.

I’m running XP and everything’s 32 bit.  The Aether install placed two dlls in \Program Files\2C-Audio\Aether.  These are called audplg32.dll and audplg64.dll (and what’s up with that?).

In the plug in manager, I added the directory where the dlls live to the scan list and clicked “scan vst-plugins”.  No Aether in any of the effects lists when the scan completes.

Many thanks to anyone who can suggest a resolution.

Its been a long time since I installed Aether, but you should have a DLL named 2c-aether.dll. I also have the two DLLs you mentioned, but my plug-in manager scan location for Aether is c:\program files\vstplugins\2C-Aether\2c-aether.dll.

Did the installer give you a selection for VST folder location?

Thank you so much, Don.  The 2c-aether.dll file was where you said to look for it and Sonar now sees it. I'm not sure how I would ever have found that by myself.

I don't recall all the specifics of the install, but I do remember that when installing, I was prompted for a directory and I took the default, but that was \Program Files\2C-Audio\Aether.  If there was another prompt, perhaps I spaced out and selected that default as well not even noticing it.
