Sonar On My Laptop

Can i use Sonar 8.5 Studio on my laptop??? I have a HP DV6 Notebook, with a Intel core duo P7350 with 2.00 GHz speed. On the Sonar minimum requirements i believe it says minimal cpu speed of 2.63. Besides getting a new computer, any advice on how to run Sonar effectively with the system i have???

I bring my DV-6000 with me to work. (Running a AMD/Nvidia chipset) Yes. It runs just fine.  The only problem I had was disk space. (80gig) I just installed a 320 gig drive and space is no longer a problem.  Running at 1.9 Ghz with 2.37 gigs ram.
Using on-board audio.  Works fine. IMO

To add...It ran 8.5 but when I got the new drive, I installed X1a....works just fine. This system is not my main DAW.  I wouldn't use it in a production environment. But for creation of ideas and edits, it's fine for me. I'll bow to the production folks to comment on tasking this style notebook and whether it's a good idea or not.

It should work, however, you will be limited by the amount of memory you have and whether you have an external audio interface. If you're just using the built in sound on the laptop, you will be limited to one input and probably not very high quality sound.

Daveny5 is right.  on board sound card will not be adequate if you plan on doing anything midi.  The issue is the drivers.  Most laptops can't use WDM or Asio drivers, only the MME driver and you can't get the latency even close with those.  With an external interface, you should be fine.  You already replaced the hard drive and I expect it is a 7200 rpm drive.. which will work fine too.  If its a 5400 rpm drive, you might have issues with the number of tracks you can have in a project.

    Good luck
