Sonar PE Layout Problems; Find missing audio??

Hello & thanks for looking,

I've got myself into a  predicament regarding Sonar Layouts, but first I will ask the following:

1.  'say you have a complete Sonar project loaded and you decide that you like the layout.  Can you save the Layout without bringing all the audio/miditrack's data with it; audio and midi?

Why do I ask, because if I decide to use the Layout in the next Project, will all the track's audio & midi data be loaded as well?
Bottom line is:  I don't want audio & midi dated loaded when using Sonar's layout feature.

2. My predicament has something to do with the above #1:

I believe this was my workflow when my problems began:  Before I saved the new template from hell, I had copied/pasted in data from another project onto the tracks for editing (I had used one of Sonar's templates to start with).  I then saved this as a new Project.  Next, I deleted all the data in the Project and then saved/created  the new template from hell???

This template from hell, when inserted into a project, calls for the audio/midi data of the Project from which I first created the Layout (even though I had deleted all data in the tracks before I saved it as a layout).  It tries to "Find the missing audio..."  from that original session.  I don't want that data.  Sonar 's dialog asks "Find missing audio..."  I respond by cancelling all "Find missing audio."  Then a new Sonar dialog says "some external files could not be found.  I say "OK."   So, the "bad-old" data is never loaded.

I then go on my merry way creating my Project and recording tracks.

Evolving from this, now everytime I open the newly recorded Project, I again, go through the same process "Find the missing audio".....etc.  I step through as above and then my Project loads with my newly created audio tracks .  I work on this new Project, and the process starts all over again when I re-load the Project.

BTW, After data is created onto the tracks and saved (using the template from hell), Sonar knows where the "good" audio data is when I open up the newly saved Project at a later date.  As I said, Every time I load the project Sonar continues to want to "Find...the data that I do not need.

In summary, the Layout is trying to load all this audio/midi data from a previous project.  Also, even though the new project was created from the layout from hell, subsequent project loadings keep wanting to find data that I do not want in the project.

Insights please on:

1.  Question #1 above?

2.  How do I fix the template (& subsequent projects based on the template from hell) to not want to load the data/midi from when I first created this Layout?
(The template is quite involved and I'd prefer not to have to start all over.)

Thanks for your insights.

Create a project template based on the project that you mention.
If you ever want to change it, edit the project template.

If you have a project and wipe all the audio tracks and then save it, it shouldn't try to find any missing audio data. Do you perchance have any hidden audio tracks?

What Chappel has suggested is effectively what I did, I have three 'templates' each with EZDrummer preloaded into them. I named them Base-EZD Cocktail, Base-EZD Pop&Rock and Base-EZD Nashville. When I'm starting a new project I open the appropriate base CWP then immediately Save As so as not to overwrite the original file. The only audio track that's carried over is a tune-up track taken from a guitar tutorial CD I bought years ago.

The 'templates' each have multiple folders with routing & effects applied, it saves me a lot of time when the inspiration strikes.
