Sonar Platinum Help & Documentation files, am I missing anything ?
The Help & Documentation installation file (SONARHelp&Documentation_1.0.0.10) is of 474 MB size. It seems to just install the reference guide (40.3 MB) and user guide (2.77 MB) files both of which have a total size of 43 MB. I find it hard to understand why a 474 MB installation file was required to install two pdf files of total 43 MB size. I am inclined to think that I am missing something here. Would more files have been installed here ? Anybody knows ?

I haven't checked the store, but the Ref Guide was previously part of "Help and Tutorials" download, and the Tutorial content added significantly to the download file size.

Just downloading the "SONAR Local Documentation" alone from the store account and it does say 474MB. And it's saying about 30 mins left to complete the download.

The .chm file is also just 51 MB. Adding that too still comes to just 94 MB. Why a 474 MB installation file ? Can somebody from Cakewalk technical department please tell me what all gets installed with this installation file. What am I missing here ?

Maybe the store account is lagging behind the CCC change?

I dont think so. The store account also reflects the split between the installation files for the "Tutorials" and the "Help & Documentation" just as it is in the CCC. The only question is why is the installation file for the help and documentation 474 MB size when it seems to install files less than 100 MB size in total. Sort of tells me that it installs more content that I dont know what it is and where to look for it. Can anybody who installed Help & documentation from the CCC tell us what was the size of the installation file that they downloaded ? That would be helpful to know as a double check.

Good. Thanks Jeff. Now could you check which files got installed on running this installation file ? Was there anything installed other than the reference guide (40.3 MB), user guide (2.77 MB) and the .chm file (51 MB) ?

I general, more info about everything we are installing, down loading would be favourable. It's fine if you have a good internet speed, but not all of us do. With so many quirks going on, it would also be nice to be able to check things. It's called 'communication' and the year is 2015.

For me, it's not about downloading. I just don't want to install what's not necessary.

I was a bit stumped too that it took so long. Just as if tuts were still in there or something? Did somebody check if any different in size from tut option?

The full installer is bigger then the resulting installation because it contains reference guides in multiple languages. It's really just extracting the language you're in. If you went through and installed in each language it would all add up.

But CCC could check proper language too, or? I know it's work in progress, just an idea. It does put load on your servers too...

The installers are not only available in Cakewalk Command Center. While possible, it would require a pretty big redesign of our delivery system as well as how the installers themselves are built. Lots of extra work for lots of people. More likely then not we may reconsider how the help itself is distributed longer term. Step 1 was to break it out from the Tutorials to reduce the overall footprint though, that way if you're updating just help you're not also downloading the tutorial content each time.
