Sonar Platinum Issues with Sustain peddle not being recorded

I have an 88 key Yamaha controller that Ive used for years through X1 all the way to Platinum (which I just purchased).  I like Platinum but it is truly buggy.... One issue that is making it almost unusable is that when I record the piano it sounds normal while I am playing and recording.  However when I play it back there are certain notes that have no sustain peddle whatsoever on them.  The result is an abrupt "tink" sound with no sustain.  Curiously even if that note is one of the notes within a chord, and all of the other notes in that chord may still sustain normally except this one note.  Ive even tried deleting the problem note and copying a sustained note from elsewhere then over-writing the problematic note to no avail.  At first I thought it was the keyboard, but I changed the sustain pedal and it did not help.  Even more aggravating, today the note might not sustain when listening to the playback, but tomorrow it will and vice-versa.  Ive had clips that sound great, and the next day have these buggy notes with no sustain.  Between this and the software continuously booting up in demo mode despite the fact that Cakewalk sent me a patch to fix it is giving me fits.

Please advise...

Try Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording. Under Playback, change 250 ms buffers to 750 and if that's not enough, try 1,000. Platinum defaults to 250 ms which many users find is not sufficient.

If the Demo problem persists, this has been mentioned before and is resolvable...don't recall what the solution is, but there's a bugfix for a similar problem in the first update. It might fix your issue as well.

You are wonderful I believe that worked, thank you for taking the time to respond.  Sorry taken me so long to respond Ive been away on travel.  I also checked and they do have an update to Sonar Platinum so I am installing that now as we speak.

Sadly I have to report that this did not fix the problem.  I thought it did but whenever I record something, a particular note (not all of them) does not record the sustain pedal or whatever it needs to record sustain.  The net effect is that one note makes a truncated 'dk" sound, so short the pitch isn't even discernible.  I can delete the note in the midi editor and draw a new one but it makes no difference.  I can copy another note that has sustain and drag it to the same spot and it makes no difference.  When I click on the note in the midi editor it has plenty of sustain, but when I click play it gets to that note and screws up every time.  To be honest I wish I hadn't bought platinum but can anyone help me on this?

Hmmm, odd. Especially since the sustain is controlled by the Yamaha controller (Sonar, or any DAW, does not control the sustain of each individual note), it's either on or off for all the notes, how could some notes get skipped?

Anyway, things to try, to help isolate the issue: Do you still have a previous version of Sonar installed and if so, how is that working (or not) with your current set up? Can you run a problem project on a previous version and does it make any difference? (You might have to save the project in Platinum as a MIDI file to load it in a previous Sonar version.) What items are checked in your Preferences under MIDI | Playback-and-Recording? Can you create a sample project with the issue to post for forum folk to look at? (You can also post the sample project to tech support.) Have you (potentially stupid question) looked at the pedal events in the PRV? Do they look as expected? Have you tried jogging some of those pedal events backward or forward in time a bit? Also, are you getting a lot of events that are not 0 or 127 but at values in-between? Have you hard-rebooted recently? (I ask because I rarely reboot, but even more rarely my maudio midi controller somehow gets confused and I have to pull out the usb and plug it back in to get its wits back.)

What happens when you manually enter a pedal event in the PRV or Staff view?
