Sonar Platinum - Midi Becomes Uneditable

I just upgraded to Sonar platinum. While writing and editing midi, the track sometimes locks up and greys out / becomes uneditable. I can't copy/paste anything, I can't delete anything for example. Is there some new feature that I'm accidentally enabling?
