Sonar Platinum and MOTU Ultralite Mk4 - Virtual Instrument Routing Problem

I recently replaced an EMU 1616m that died on me, with a MOTU Ultralite Mk4.
In the EMU Patchmix software, I could route virtual instruments in Sonar (midi keys and drums) to their own output channel fairly easily.
With the new MOTU mixer software, no matter what I've tried, all midi instrument are output to the same output channel regardless of what channel I select in Sonar. I see numerous options in the trackview for different outputs, but it doesn't change the output in the MOTU mixer, So there doesn't seem to be anyway to have a different channel in the mixer for each instrument.
I've checked the driver settings in Sonar and there isn't anything unusual going on. I've also checked that there isn't something strange going on in Win7 Audio settings. I'm not sure if this is normal with the MOTU interface and I need to look at a different interface or if there is some other secret setting I'm just not finding.
Any ideas?

Also, if you have used any of these, I'd like to hear how happy you are with the interface.

Thanks!

I have an mk4 and have not had issues with multi channel vst routing.  I setup the mk4 using the default 'audio interface'.  I'm not in front of my computer now but I can double check if you tell us what instrument you are routing (Kontakt, GPO5, AD2?).  You have tried checking for videos on that subject?
