Sonar Platinum subscriptions

Hi folks, after all the initial activity and questions about the new subscription model, can I be so bold to ask another? In my defence I have been without the internet for the past 6 months. Moved into a new build property and had no phone line/internet connection at all. It is a useless excuse but it did mean I haven't been browsing this forum hardly at all. I'm back in the land of the living now!

OK. I'm thinking of upgrading from X3 to Platinum via the annual subscription route. I pay whatever the deal is at the moment and use the program for a year and bag all the upgrades for that timescale. I understand that I will effectively own those products. The year lapses. What happens then? Automatic rebilling? An email from Sonar saying my year's up? Will it be a fixed price? (I only ask because there's always loads of deals going on in the interim period) is there any way you can take advantage of those deals as an annual paying customer?

Sorry for resurrecting this guys. It will kind of affect what I do next. I'm struggling in my own mind with this. I'm strictly a hobbyist and don't think I'm anywhere near 'pro' enough to warrant a $199 annual subscription bill. I actually think that possibly Sonar has become too evolved for my needs. I know I wouldn't have to upgrade but knowing what I'm like I reckon I'll want to. I guess I could downgrade?

Cheers YC

If you elect to upgrade now, and make monthly payments after completing the 12th payment you are done. There is no automatic renewal of your membership. You may renew if you wish, I am sure Cakewalk will send you plenty of opportunities to do so. Twelve months from now, they may even have a way to send personal notifications through the new Start Screen. What the future holds in the way of promotional prices is impossible to say.

Thanks for the reply scook. I was actually going to go down the one off annual fee rather than the monthly option. After the year is up and it's time for renewal, have we any idea what the cost will be for subsequent subscriptions?

    Thanks again

There is a published renewal price here http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Versions#start
No one has ever renewed, the program has not completed the first year. There have been promotions and might be promotions in the future. Are you asking what your actual renewal will be a year from now? If so, the published pricing is a good guide.

What needs to be very clear is that once you have paid for your copy it is yours to keep and use forever. It works out the same as before except CW is updating every month for the 12 months. If you pay it all up front its yours from the beginning and you will still receive an update per month. After 12 months you can reup for the new Sonar 2016 or how ever they want to call it. If you pay monthly you must pay for the full 12 month period.

CW is taking the risk and the burden, not us.

    Best
