Sonar Platinum volume problem

    Hello,

I have a question please: why is it that the volume we get in Sonar when working on a track is not the same as the volume in the exported result. Often, I have a correct volume in Sonar, but the level in the same exported track (the .w file result) will be twice as low as the original volume. This creates problems as I then need to used a volume corrector like Soundnormalizer or so. I have searched the internet to see if someone had the same problems, and it seems that yes:

Though I'm not sure exactly what he does to correct it, as the tuto is not 100% clear.

So is there a way to correct this (I'm in Platinum), and if yes how?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best,

P.s.: I also want to point out that I had initially sent this question to Cakewalk, but due to the bandlab change and everything, never got any answer (lucky me!), which is more than sad for someone who has been using Sonar for years. When I learnt that bandlab was taking over Cakewalk, I then forwarded my question to them, and received no answer either. So in any case, I am really not happy at all to see that things turn out this way, as Cakewalk help team was excellent in the past. I can understand the change, evolution, problems, ect., but in any case, ultimately customers should never be treated this way...

I suspect either:
  1. The output level to your audio device is turned down.
  2. The master volume of your audio device is turned down
You can check (1) by clicking on the master bus and looking in the track inspector:

For (2), it'll depend on your device as to where this is set.

Exported levels will be - literally - identical to what you hear IF...

1. Your master fader is set to 0 dB, and
2. every track is routed to the master bus, and
3. the master output is routed directly to your audio interface, and
4. the playback software you're using to audition the file isn't modifying levels or EQ

Check #2 by muting the master bus and verifying that every track goes silent.
Check #4 by importing the file back into your Cakewalk project and comparing peak and RMS levels

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
