Sonar Platinum/Melodyne issue [Solved by 1st update]
Wow, that was the easiest SONAR install I've ever done. The Command Center is amazing for speed of download and install, no more entering serial numbers. It was so fast I was sure that the install didn't work right but everything was good. Sonar Platinum so far has worked flawlessly except when tuning vocals with Melodyne. After adding a region FX and tuning one part of a clip it seems there are artifacts (skips and repeated vocal stutters) on parts of the clip that I didn't even touch. This has happened a couple of times, I'm looking for a recipe to reliably reproduce it. In the meantime if any of the other early buyers could check it out and see if they have any similar issue it would help to see if it's something particular to my setup. It's not the kind of skip/pop/crackle you get from running with insufficient audio buffers. It's repeatable and seems to permanently change the audio in the exact same spot (though of course undo or removing the region FX prior to bouncing returns it to the original state.) I have set my audio buffers to max and it doesn't make a difference. Other than that I'm really impressed with Platinum so far.

I forgot to mention that I have the full Melodyne editor version, not sure if that will make any difference.

I'd love to hear from Cake about this one! This might actually give us an indication of how fast those 'patches' will be released!

Not to hijack the thread, but I migrated to new Sonar as well, and every went swimmingly EXCEPT melodyne. I can't get it to show up as an effect at all. I owned essential before, got it from X3 as well and now have it again. I installed, I "reinstalled", I checked my various VST paths, but no love. Everything else went great. Still shows up in X3. Did you guys do anything special to get Melodyne in the new version?

I was under the impression that Sonar Platinum won't be available for download till January 21st. So how is it possible that you're using it?

You could sign up for an "I'd like to get it early" e-mail. Some people (like me) got said e-mail. Dunno why they chose to do it like that, but there you go.

Same here I can confirm the bug. I have the full version of Melodyne and the minute you tweak something there is crackling happening. Luckily there is Autotune to the rescue (and its amazing auto mode)

Yeah . . . may be something going on with Melodyne (I have Editor version), I installed Sonar Platinum, smoooothly . . . when I opened an existing X3e project, right away there is a problem which automatically generates the cakewalk problem reporter, mentioning "melodyne" as being the issue, but when I try to submit the problem to cakewalk, the problem reporter locks up and hangs . . . sorry, couldn't wait more than 5 minutes, had to cancel it and restart Sonar. So I try to open the same project again, and it works . . . opened other X3e projects with melodyne and they work . . . I'm hoping it just fixed itself ? Tested, creating some new melodyne region fx, and melodyne editor seems to work fine on my system now, no crackles or pops . . . so, I can report that it is now working well for me.

have you tried adjusting your buffers ? this might help Melodyne. after you make those changes, exit the program, re start sonar platinum again and see if that helps. you might not need to restart but its not a bad idea to so sometimes after making a larger tweak.

@Chuckebaby This isn't an audio buffer size issue. On X3 I can use Melodyne with minimum buffers, (despite the warning Melodyne gives) but this issue is a repeatable distortion in the audio regardless of buffer size, even when set to maximum.

I just had a mess about with Melodyne editor. My buffer settings are not the recommended. And whilst I haven't had any problems altering the audio and selecting "bounce to clips." I have however, crashed Sonar Platinum once (thus far), by hitting "render region." Though upon restarting. Doing the same process, appears to work fine. Perhaps the seize up, was a once off? As for distortion? I'm not getting any of that on my system. Either during the editing phase or after it is bounced. I should note that my version of Melodyne is not up to date. (I have been meaning to get around to it.) The version I am using is 2.1.1 Is it possible that the distortion is a conflict between the latest version of Melodyne and Sonar? What version are you guys using?

I had the same experience on both counts; a quick and easy installation of Platinum via the Command Center, but I also had some weird artifacts in Melodyne when I bounced the clip. The Melodyne clip played correctly before bouncing so something went awry in that rendering process. I tried VVocal and that worked fine. In another project I tried Melodyne and it worked fine there (though the phrasing of words was much simpler).

Hi Sylvan, that is pretty strange. I tried to replicate your test test at home but Melodyne renders perfectly here both in real time and on rendering the audio. Do you mind uploading your project with just the single track that shows the problem. Delete everything else but that single clip and save to a bundle file. Then load it back and see if the problem still occurs first. If you can still repro please upload the file somewhere and send me a link. Also check if turning Multiprocessing on or off has any bearing on the problem.. We may need to ask Celemony for assistance with this since SONAR doesn't control the rendering of audio within Melodyne directly. None of our testers ran into this specific issue so we need to investigate further before we can determine what is causing this if it indeed is different from X3. thanks, Noel

Thought I'd chime in. Noel called me a little while ago, Cakewalk considers the Melodyne integration extremely important and he hasn't been able to reproduce, so he wanted to know if i'd test it out. HA! Calling me for tech support! Usually it's the other way around The good news is I've been working on two projects in the pre-release version that make extensive use of Melodyne Editor and am now working with the same projects in Platinum. The bad news is I can't reproduce this either. However, my workflow might be different. I always split the clip to which i'm going to apply Melodyne so it's a separate clip. Try that and see if the problem still occurs. I realize it's a workaround and you don't want to have to commit to using that approach, but if it doesn't malfunction when you're working on a separate clip, that could be a valuable clue. Meanwhile, I'll try not splitting the clip and seeing if I can reproduce.

I will do that Noel. I did discover that if I start a new project in Platinum, the glitch does not occur. If I open a project that was produced in X3, it does occur. I will follow your steps shortly. I must do a few things first (family errands).
