One change with the past, the iLok requirement may be satisfied with software only. No dongle required.

The software based version of iLok got a thumbs up here when Eventide was giving away UltraChannel. Now that Softube uses the same copy protection, I am considering bundle.

Hey and it only costs about 20 bucks more than when they introduced it however many years back. I spent $179 for it IIRC.

I believe you are correct about the initial price. According to my Google search, it came out @ $179 (not sure about the original non-US promo pricing). It is currently on sale for the same price http://www.store.cakewalk...ductid=36-STPC1.00-20E

I've used the Softube Mix Bundle in both the ProChannel and full FX versions since it was introduced. I use it all over the place. Really satisfied ever since I made the purchase. Don't even mind the iLok thing, although it sounds like that's now even a non-factor.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Glad to hear it's backand available again for those who didn't have a chance to get it before.

By the way, the Groove3 Mixing with Sonar X1 tutorial, also available in the Cakewalk store, which is still relevant and an excellent tour through working end to end on one song - often shows examples of this bundle and how the different components can help a song in the tutorials.

Sorry Karyn, I considered posting this in the Deals forum but decided to throw caution to the wind and post it here instead.  I like to live dangerously…

I jest, I just thought it something that Sonar users would benefit from being aware of.

It's a great deal and I've been hoping it'd be brought back to the Cake store for a long time.
I just hope it's still running when I get paid in a couple of weeks!

LOL Right! I wont be buying this pack as long as they keep the iLok requirement. If iLok wasn't required, I would buy this bundle. Good job by Waves for droping that iLok crap! Now, Softube needs to wise up.

I bought all the ProChannel modules that don't require iLok. I didn't buy SONAR X2, as I was off-line for a year and a half and when I returned, X3 was out, but if Cakewalk sold the R-Mix SONAR module, separately, I would buy that ProChannel module, too.

As always, I'm very appreciative and thankful that Cakewalk doesn't use the iLok copyprotection for any of their software.

I bought the bundle last time it was on special but I hardly ever use it because of the ilok requirement. Can I now use them without the ilok, do I have to re register them, how do I go about this?

It still uses iLok copy protection but dropped the dongle requirement. The iLok License Manager must be installed on the PC and the PC must connect to the internet to acquire the license keys from iLok. The keys are stored on the PC (or a dongle if you wish). I would suggest contacting Softube support if you purchase the product while it still required a dongle. You may need an update to the software.

Re: Sonar Pro Channel - Softube Mix Bundle is back! 2014/10/07 20:25:34 (permalink)
OK, now I'm confused.

The support section of Softube's website repeats many, many times that all their products (except a very few, and this bundle isn't one of them) absolutely require an ilok dongle.

Ilok say you can "transfer" licenses to your computer if the software vendor permits this. Whatever "transfer" means in this context.

Softube make no mention of transfering licenses to computer, they just say you have to have an ilok.

Re: Sonar Pro Channel - Softube Mix Bundle is back! 2014/10/07 20:35:13 (permalink)
The Softube page is not accurate at least WRT the Softube Mix Bundle. See Andrew's comment above and the information in the CW store. There is no dongle requirement. iLok is still the copy protection method so you  must create an account at the iLok site. You can use a dongle if you wish or use the iLok License Manager to maintain the licenses directly on the PC (similar to NI Service Center). How many installations and if licenses can be transferred between PCs is at the vendors discretion. If the vendor allows multiple installations and/or license transfers between machines, the iLok License Manager handles the license installations/transfers. The License Manager is a piece of software which connects to the internet and provides a drag and drop interface to move licenses between the iLok website and your PCs.

The license manager has let me transfer an activation onto my PC, unfortunately the VST's are still asking for the iLok to be inserted before they will work. I guess an uninstall and reinstall is the next logical step but you would think that if the iLok site will let you transfer a license onto your computer then the VST's should be able to pick that up. Anyone else had a previous install of the Softube bundle and had this issue?

See the last part of my post #17. If you purchased the software back when a dongle was needed, you will need an update to the software to get the dongle optional version. Contact Softube support.

Whoa, software iLok? Does this mean the iLok/iLok2 gadget is being phased out completely? Can all iLok autorized plugins use this software-only solution?

Storing licenses on the PC is relatively new.The last year or so.
Cannot say what the future holds.
Not all iLok protected plug-in vendors provide a software only license. Some still require a dongle. Even where the dongle is not required, it is still an option for those preferring to keep their licenses on a dongle instead of on their PCs.

All this stuff is awesome just watching the videos on the Cakewalk product pages. I don't want to spend $179 right now (as I'm close to buying something extracurricular that I've been saving for), but I still have plenty more time to buy that. (before the 18th of next month) But my GAS is in FULL SWING right now buds!! I'm literally just sitting here GASSING at this stuff!

I always wanted to try the Softube stuff, but it was always out of my price range coupled with the fact that it uses iLok dongle. Now both of those things are non issues and it happens at a time where I'm trying to control G.A.S. :( Hopefully this stuff is on sale for the next couple of weeks.
