Sonar Pro help via video conference?

Hi Folks,

Sonar Pro newbie here. I've used previous versions of Sonar (6 and earlier, and Cakewalk stuff before that) for many years, but I've having a hard time getting Sonar Pro to cooperate.

Is there someone willing to do a web conference with me and walk me through some basic of MIDI setup and VSTs?

I'm not sure if this is the place to offer, but I'm willing to pay you for your time or alternately, donate to a cause on your behalf.

Software: Sonar Pro

Controller: Yamaha S80
Main VSTs: Kontakt5
Audio & MIDI Interface: Presonus AudioBox USB
Computer: Dell Precision 3620, Intel Core i5-6600 CPU @ 3.30Ghz, 16GB RAM, running Windows 10 64bit

Yup - the new Sonar is radically different than Sonar 8.5.3 with a mature and completely redesigned interface.

But - there are Zillions of videos out there that cover just about every aspect of Sonar, as posted above.  YouTube, Cake TV, even some to watch while installing/updating things in the Cakewalk Command Center.

There are also commercially available tutorial videos and some TRULY incredibly giving folks here in the forums.

I would suggest you edit your forum user profile - and add your system specs to the section called your Signature and Comments - and also make sure to check the box that tells the forum software to attach that signature to every post you put out in the forums - that way, we can all see what kind of system you are running Sonar with - and it helps us to better help you, because we can see at a glance what kind of setup you have.  (my specs are at the bottom of this post, as an example - or look at some of the other folks's signatures for guidance).  You can get to your profile to edit the signature by clicking up in the top right of the forum page on the link labelled User Control Panel, then look for Signature and Comments.

THEN, try doing some research on how to do things by looking at the existing documentation, tutorials, videos, and for any area where you are still having problems, go ahead and create a new thread for each issue - so the replies don't get all intertwined and confusing - to you or to others.

I also suggest you do some rudimentary Google Searches for issues - prior to creating a thread - in case someone has already posted the same (or similar) issue, where the forum folks have already come up with a solution.

The Forum Search mechanisms are pretty uh lame - so most forum folks use Google to search the forums.

An example would be - maybe you are having an issue with the screen not scrolling sideways smoothly during project playback.  I would use something like the following Google Search terms (without the quotes) :

"site:forum.cakewalk.com sonar screen scroll smooth playback"

In the above example, Google sees the site: filter as you only wanting to see search results from that particular web site - and then the other filters would be what is actually searched for.  Well, forum.cakewalk.com is the whole collection of user forums, so Google would search the Cakewalk forums for your search terms, and you would get a very concise and as drilled down a list as the terms you supplied would filter.  The more you use searches the better you will get at deciding on the search terms....

Anyways - let's get you up to speed and having fun with Sonar again.  WAHOO!

    I've updated my signature.

I watched a bunch of tutorials but they don't address my issues - however, I think the main problem lies with Kontakt5, so I am dealing with Native Instruments helpful but slow support.

    Thanks all.
