Sonar Producer 7 and Windows 7 or 8

I'm about to upgrade my PC...but....will my Sonar Producer 7 be compatible with either Windows 7 or 8 ....I will be running the 32 bit version. It will be a dedicated music PC...purely for recording.

8.5 runs fine on Windows 7 32 bit here.

My view is... what's the point of spending all that money for a dedicated DAW workstation and then putting on an old 32 bit version of Sonar. You are also aware 32 bit Sonar will only be able to use 4Gb of memory?

    Sonar Platinum upgrade is $199.
I assume you have checked that your interface drivers (etc) will work.
Also I strongly recommend running Windows 8.1 on a new machine.

Whatever you do make sure you are running 64 bit Windows.

    Cheers...

I'm perfectly happy with Sonar 7 ..it meets all my requirements and I'm comfortable with it...I'm only recording Moog synths.
But again.....will Sonar 7 run on either Windows 7 or 8 ? I just need a yes or no.

I have sonar 8 still installed on my windows 7 64bit and it runs perfectly fine, way back in day i did use sonar 7 producer on it and it ran fine as well. However i have upgraded through the x-series and now run sonar platinum. but sonar 8 will still start and run perfectly fine for me although i've no more use for it. My guess is that sonar 7 should run fine. Although it may not be supported. Usually when companies say a program is not supported on that system it usually runs fine they just don't guarantee optimal results. If you really don't want to upgrade I'd say just try to install and use it. If its works... then you know it works lol. If it doesn't work then it obviously doesn't work lol.

Don't think this has a simple yes/no answer. It is true SONAR 7 is not supported on Win7 or Win8 but there are a lot of threads about SONAR 7 and Win7. I found quite a few using Google and the search string:

The other thing is you might want to consider sticking with your old machine if the specs are right for a 32 bit DAW, if it hasn't given up the ghost and you have driver support for your hardware. Maybe a windows reinstall and a few minor upgrades might be just the job. You might also want to look at windows dual boot.
