Sonar Professional crash when writing MIDI with EZDrummer?

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum I actually just got into Sonar weeks ago from Reaper. Do you guys experience crashing while writing in piano roll? It only happens when I'm writing on piano roll. And there's no loading or not responding prompt, the GUI will just freeze.

Thank you,

Hi, and welcome to this forum. Could you tell a bit more about your setup? Do you have the latest update to EZD, and SONAR? I have the lite version if EZD, and have no issues with it.
    Best of luck.

I'm running on Windows 7 fully patched, full version of EZ Drummer and Sonar Professional. After patching windows it doesn't crash anymore. But I'm still monitoring it saving every midi notes I wrote. I'm gonna get Windows 10 Pro next week, I hope this will keep the system more stable. Thanks for the welcome man.

I have had next to no issues with both Win 7 (X3, and Platinum) and Win 10 (platinum latest, since the day Win 10 came out), so I do not know what to make of it. I will admit though that my Win 10 setup is more stable than ever.
But if it is running fine now, I hope all is well.
    All the best.

If you have EZ Drummer 2, you need to do a specific set up for Sonar.

Open EZ Drummer and click on the down arrow in the top right called Menu.  You will see a Sonar option there.

I can't remember if you are supposed to do this in stand-alone mode or from inside Sonar.  You might want to check the Toontrack site.

Of course, if you have already done this, then never mind. .  I have had a number of isses since upgrading to EZ Drummer 2, but I seem to be OK now.

I checked the menu and there is a Sonar options but you can only set it to show the number of output dialog for the startup, not much about integration of Sonar to EZ Drummer, I guess those two are supposed to work seamlessly just like Zargg's.

Before you jump on to the Win10 bandwagon, you should make absolutely sure that your interface drivers are totally Win10 compatible. There are all kinds of threads on here about crashes in Sonar and the common denominator seems to be Win10 and trying to use Win7/8 drivers, or not fully tested Win10 drivers.

Yeah I already checked it, Scarlett 2i4 is compatible based on the website. Thanks for the info.

Hey guys just an update for this thread, it seems like so far the random crash was gone. I'm already upgraded to Windows 10, install all the windows updates and so far it's stable.
