Sonar & Remote DAW Control via iPad

Hey All,

I'm trying to find a reliable remote control surface - preferably on iPad - but it must be wireless. In particular, I'd like to use my iPad (or my Microsoft Surface) when I'm by my grand piano to control recording - start, stop, playback, and NOW-time positioning, etc. - with Cakewalk Sonar running on my desktop PC across the room.

I saw this post:

Based on this, I implemented rtpMIDI on the Cakewalk Sonar PC and downloaded onto my iPad "eyoControl" - an application that does remote DAW control amongst other things.

Commands seem to go out reasonably well from eyoControl to Sonar. However, control of the NOW-time is very spotty. The NOW-time display on eyoControl doesn't update and tends to freeze. Moving the position pointer with eyoControl's scrub dial seems to work with Sonar, but the updated position doesn't show up on the app.

Any suggestions? I'm open to changing approaches. Unfortunately, I have Windows 10 Home, which precludes using remote desktop (unless I pay $99 to upgrade to Professional). V-Control seems very expensive and has many unhappy users. Thoughts?

Thank you in advance!

George

The AC7 products no longer work on my iPad, after an IOS update.
They worked fine before.
I would try a demo, if available, just to check that it works.
All the best.

TouchDAW works really well on Android tablets - even the cheap £40 ones you can get from Amazon, so you get to keep your iPad for other stuff :)

You can get it on the Google Play store.
