Sonar Stereo Mono Interleave Signal Path

Hello-
I'm trying to move some projects over from Reaper to Sonar and have noticed that mono tracks with stereo effects on them sound very different in both programs. I know Sonar has the mono/stereo interleave button per track (something Reaper doesn't seem to have an equivalent for) but how exactly does Sonar route a mono signal through the FX chain?

Let's say, for example, that you had a mono clip on a track in mono interleave mode with a stereo effect in the bin. How does Sonar route the signal? Does it hand the effect the mono signal on the left fx input only? When the effect is done and tries to hand off a stereo signal, does Sonar mix that signal down into a mono signal, does it just use one channel from the output, or does it use the full stereo signal?

What about in the case of DX plugs? I have heard this is slightly different. What about in the case of mono and stereo fx being in the same bin?

And finally, I assume clip volume/pan envelopes are pre-FX, but what about track volume/pan envelopes, are these post or pre fx? I ask because I'm wondering how exactly the pan envelope is effecting the bin routing.

Thanks for your help, I'm just trying to get the Sonar project to sound the same but there seems to be a fundamental difference in how the two programs handle FX routing and mono/stereo operation.

If I was in the same situation I would take a single mono source processed with a stereo effect in reaper and do the same with the same plugin in Sonar and then change the interleave and panning law settings for the sonar project until I arrived at a wave that nulled with the reaper produced file. A bit tedious but you only have to do it once and make note of the settings.

The track volume is post FX for sure. I would expect panning to be the same.

Generally I have found with Sonar that all the interleave/panning law stuff comes down to a 3db difference somewhere.

thanks a lot..  What is the best setup for testing if two waves null?

Put the reaper created file on one track and the sonar created file on another and flip the phase on one of the tracks. Assuming the files are lined up perfectly what you should hear on playback is the "difference" of the tracks. Silence would me they are perfectly identical files.

You can test this concept by duplicating a track containing audio and flipping the phase on the copy and then adjusting the volume or inserting an eq and making changes to one of the tracks. It's a very interesting experiment.

Not sure I follow. For several people interleave isn't working quite as expected. If you put a stereo effect on a wav that was recorded in mono and change the interleave to stereo it works. However if you try to bounce to track, render or even save the interleave settings, they will revert back to mono. Sorry if I'm way off base.
