Sonar V-Studio 100 won't install.

Hi Guys,

I just purchased a used Sonar V-Studio 100.   All functions seem to be working well.
I have just tried to install the latest software as an admininstrator.  The software installs as far as it can then asks me to connect the unit and turn it on.  Done.   That's where everything stops.  There's no reaction to the connected hardware even after several minutes.  Even tried a different USB cable.
I'm generally familiar with Roland software installations (I have a quad-capture unit) but I'm lost on this after trying many times.

Any suggestions, please? Thanks!

I had the same problem with my Alesis DM6... the problem is Alesis uses class compliant drivers in Windows 10, "generic " drivers and it caused some usb devices with factory drivers to stop, or the Alesis DM6 would be seen, but would not work... class compliant drivers suck and cause all kinds of problems in Sonar for me... I had to do a system restore and kept trying until it kicked on. Even though you have Roland drivers, if you have something that's used by Sonar which uses a class compliant driver, that may be the problem. I don't know if that helps, I hope it does.

    Hi Marvin,
Are you using Windows 10 as platform or another one? What do you mean by software .... the driver or also the DAW Sonar VS that is on the CD? Do you have a working internet connection when installing?

Have a look here as well regarding the proper firmware. Nowadays the lost also contains a W10 driver:

    Marvin,

What version of windows are you using?  If 10 then it will install the drivers when you plug the 100 into a usb.  Make sure you are using a usb 2, not a usb 3 port.

It might help if you uninstall whatever is on your computer, then do a fresh install.
Also, check the hardware section of the forum, there are quite a few topics on the vs 100.

I am using windows 10 with my vs 100 with no problems.  I also sync the 100 with my octacapture, for a total of 12 inputs.  Good luck.

Having an administrator account isn't the same as "Run as Administrator".  Doing the latter is crucial when any of the components (OS or drivers) was last updated for Windows 7.

As already suggested, make sure it's connected via USB2, not USB3.  Also, make sure your firmware is up to date.

Please add your O.S. to your system specs.

Thank you guys.  I've decided this unit is more valuable to me as a karaoke-type playback for my concerts.   For that purpose it's working very well.  If I need it inside of Sonar later, I'll refer to your suggestions and guidance here.

    Thanks again!
