Sonar X1 - Dimension PRo Dilema

Hi,

I recently upgraded from Dimension LE to Dimensio Pro, and installed Dimension Pro 64 Bit onw Windows 7 64 BitSonar X1 Studio.  After that when somepatches are played , the system will hang both in standalone and VST.  Contacted Cakewalk support , they asked me to re-install , but same issue. So I installed 32 bit version and it was working fine in standalone mode.  But now, when I load Dimension Pro from Sonar X1 as VST, I am getting Dimension LE instead of Dimension Pro.
I tried re-scanning all VST's , but still the Synth insert menu is showing Dimension Pro but inserting Dimension LE
Cakewalk support is extremely bad on support and not getting any help on this , they just want to sell the product and don't want to support.
Can anyone on this forum help me on how to resolve this.

All was working well till I installed Dimension Pro.

Thanks
J

I had a similar experience. Cakewalk Support should have provided you with details on how to do a complete uninstall of Dimension LE and Dimension Pro which means going into the Windows Registry (not for the fainthearted). Here's the information I was given in December 2010 on this process on how to do a complete uninstall of Dimension Pro:

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Cakewalk Technical Support.

First we are going to clean out your current Dimension Pro
    installation, then re-install.

    Please perform the following:

    -  Completely un-install Dimension Pro from your computer. This is
normally done from Start | Programs | Cakewalk.

    -  Make sure nothing else is running while reinstalling Dimension Pro
in step 'e'. In Win 98/ME/XP, choose Start | Run and type MSCONFIG.
Click OK, then click on the Startup tab at the upper right of the
window that opens. Uncheck all items listed, click OK, then restart
your computer. You can always recheck those items again at a later
time. In Win 2000, click Ctrl+Alt+Del and manually End Task on the
    items you don't need running.

    -  Click the Windows Start button and select Run. At the prompt type
    REGEDIT and click OK.

Backup your Registry before making edits - you do this by clicking the
    Registry menu, Export Registry File.

Now delete the following Registry keys

     HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro

     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{61E5A01F-A3AD-4a64-BD41-4123B58CD27B}\InprocServer32\18

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Shell\Common
    AppData

    -  Right click and delete the "Common AppData" folder

    -  Close Regedit

     -  Delete your cxp files via the following steps:

    -  Please go to Start | Search and type in the following:

    *.cxp

-Make sure you search your entire hard drive including all hidden
files and folders. You should find several files named "cxdata##.cxp"
in your Identities folder. Delete all of these files.

    -  Delete the file Dimension Pro.dll from your main VST folder and the
Dimension Pro program folder. (if it is still present)

    -  Now download and run our patchappdata utility:

    http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/patchAppData.exe

    -  Now re-install Dimension Pro from your DVD and install the 1.2
    update.

    -  Attempt to insert Dim Pro into SONAR by running as admin:

    1. Right click the SONAR icon.
    2. In Properties, select the Compatibility tab.
    3. Under Privilege Level, select the Run this program as an
administrator check box, and then click Apply or OK.
    4. If this is the first time the application has been marked to run as
an administrator, a dialog box will appear.
    5. Click OK to continue.

Please report back to us your progress, we want to make sure Dimension
Pro is up and running after making these changes.

    Best Regards,

    Chad

they just want to sell the product and don't want to support.

Pretty unfair statement right there.  Sounds like you might be happier with a different company that has better support.  I hear Cubase support is top notch.
