Sonar X1 - Mac OSX?
Are we ever going to see Sonar X1 go to Mac OSX? Seeing how the VS-700C has Mac OSX drivers now, any possiblity X1 will ever be available as a DAW for Mac?

I personally don't want to see it on a Mac for the only reason that it would be taking away resources from the PC side.

SONAR can be used on MAC OSX if you use the BOOTCAMP utility. It allows you to install Windows 7. It makes the MAC a dual OS machine. I agree with 'A 1 MixMan'. I wouldn't want Cakewalk to take away resources from the PC side either. Probably for the same reason LOGIC will only be on MAC OSX and not on Windows.

I got a rather straightforward opinion on the subject: I catch a whiff of a rumor of Cakewalk working on Sonar for Mac, I've switched DAWs by the next day. Zero tolerance.

Well... I have Logic on my Mac and it works quite well... Why in the world would I ever want to port over something that keeps me away from the joys of living hell setting up a PC with a microsoft OS? .... ; )

one of the engineers in my studio (hes more of a "producer", really) brings in his macbook pro, plugs in to my profire/octane via firewire, brings his own drive and runs logic. it's cool. but i've watched him and worked with him. his logic DOES NOT run more smoothly than my X1. no, im not using audio snap ;)

CW can't even handle a PC release, how on earth are they going to handle a PC + Mac release? I say they should not waste their resources on a Mac version.

As someone who uses both PC and Mac, an OSX port of Sonar will probably be just as a bad as those old Windows ports of Cubase, Logic or ProTools -- which is the reason why most of us chose Cake in the first place!

Zo Osx is less good for audio than windows , so even if i had a mac , it will be bootcamped !! I am a Windows Guy, always have been. MAC looks interesting, but for various reasons I've never gone there. but this is patently untrue. OSX is so, so, so NOT less good than windows for audio. :) Core audio urinates all over WDM, it's not even funny. There's no reason these days why you HAVE to have a mac, and probably no reason for Cakewalk to go there either, but it would be an interesting proposition if they did.

If you really want to use a Sonaresque DAW on a Mac, try PreSonus' Studio One v2. I use it on my Mac Book Pro as a mobile DAW. It does lack the ability to work with hardware synths (i.e. no instrument definition capability) though, so I only use it with softsynths, and use Sonar in my studio PC where it's surrounded by my hardware gear.
