Sonar X1 Studio intermittent error trying to playback

OK I've searched the forums but can't find a answer to this problem. When I have tracks armed to record and press play or record, I often but not always get the error message "Unable to create new audio file for recording". This is a new message, the system worked just fine for a long time. Also, once this happens, I cannot disarm any track from recording until I save the file. Then I can disarm tracks. Also have had error message when exporting a mix "Internal Error...(something)". Any help would be appreciated Custom built PC from ADK Windows 7, 64 bit Intel Core i7 960 Processor- 3.2GHz Quad Core w/HT 8meg cache 2 gig DDR3 1600 CL8 memory 4TB Wes Dig 7200rpm (4 drives on two RAID 0)

I have 2 drives used for audio. Each is 2 TB. One has 650 Gb open, the other has 250 Gb open (getting full) . Have the problem with writing to either it seems.

    I would suggest defragging them.

also, are they SATA drives, or USB - firewire?

and what settings are you running your project?  if you're running at anything higher than 48k you might have a problem with the size of the file it's trying to create on your drives

SATA Drives. Projects are 48k, 16 bit. Looks like it might be time to buy a USB hard drive and remove some old projects to it, see if that helps. Thanks for you help Beagle.

For performance reasons, you want to clear off the audio HD.

Check your Picture Cache.  You may need to increase it's size.  You can also try deleting the files currently in it.  Any "peak overview" Sonar needs will be recreated when loading a project... so there's no harm in deleting them.

Thanks all for the advice. I tried all these suggestions, still having the same problem. Any other things to try? Reinstall Sonar? Drivers?

Your getting an error when exporting to a wave file, right?, So i would guess that it may be a plugin that doesn't like fast bounce or even the 64bit engine.
Try unchecking fast bounce first and see if that works

The main problem is the fact that I get the message- "Unable to create new audio file for recording" as soon as I hit PLAY or RECORD when any track is armed to record. I can move the now time around and try hitting record several times and it will eventually record, but it is extremely annoying, and getting embarrassing when I have paying clients I'm recording. The exporting error is secondary, and actually has not happened recently.
