Sonar X1 White Noise During Recording and Playback

Hello All,
I've just gotten back into using Sonar, and I've encountered a problem I was hoping to get some feedback on.  I have a couple very simple songs recorded (three soft synths and one audio track).  During recording and playback, I get white noise for a few seconds every couple of measures.  Not the crackling or popping sound, but like you've tuned your radio to a nonexistent station.

I exported the song, and the white noise appears on the wav file.

Could it be one of my plugins?  I have the soft synths that came with the product, and the guitar rig.  I also have Kontakt 4.

  • I am running SONAR X1 on a Dell Inspiron (Intel i5; 2.8 ghz; 8 GB installed, 16 GB with the Optima thing)
  • I have a Kawaii K-11 as a controller that I connect to an M-Audio Midisport 1x1 MIDI interface.
  • For audio, I have an M-Audio Fast Track.
  • I have a pair of Roland MA-15D speakers for output.
Thanks!

Possibly a 3rd party plug-in in demo mode. Cakewalk did not use intermittent noise for demo mode.

Almost certainly one of your plugins, but not one of the bundled ones. To verify, do a global bypass (click on the "FX" button in the control bar) and see if the noise goes away. If it does, start bypassing plugins one by one to isolate the one that's in demo mode.

If you've been away from SONAR for awhile, is it possible you've made hardware changes in the interim? Some plugins lose their authorization when you alter something in the system that their license is keyed to.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

IK Multimedia plugins definitely do this when running in demo mode.

    Hello,
I did the global bypass as bitflipper suggested.  The white noise ceased.

You were right; it was the IK Multimedia plugins.  I registered the product and the issue has gone away.
    Thanks all!
