Very interesting. I have BIAB, but I've not use the chord detection feature yet. I'm gonna give it a try. Thanks for the video!

Is that the best mic to use for BIAB?

Great playing on the guitar. I was amazed to see the chord detection and the drag and drop render to audio tracks. That's wicked cool. best regards, mike

mike_mccue I was amazed to see the chord detection Me too, how acurate does your playing need to be for it to work that well? (or did we miss 3 hours of editing...)

I'm thinking the time required to edit the chord chart is circumstantial to whether or not the operator already knows the chords. best, mike

I recorded the guitar part without reference to a metronome. In BIAB, you change the tempo either by typing to the recorded tempo or by changing the tempo in each bar. It didn't take very long. Peter

OK. No metronome but wHat about the chord detection. There's mention of corrections made. How much correction? Let's say I play by ear and don't know the name of the chord I'm playing. How can I edit an incorrect one?

Karyn mike_mccue I was amazed to see the chord detection Me too, how acurate does your playing need to be for it to work that well? (or did we miss 3 hours of editing...) I have BB and yeah.... sometimes it detects pretty well and a style fits well. Playing accuracy is critical. Timing should be dead on and chords should be pretty basic. C..... C7..... etc.... when you play a C5b9# it tends to get a bit confused. Especially if the bass is not on the root. Keep it basic and you can get good detection. However, there have been times literally where I had to completely dump everything in the detection screen and enter the chords manually. There is ALWAYS editing to do to one degree or another. Having said that... it is totally amazing how well sometimes BB can pick up the chords and meter ... other times... not so much. I have one song that I'm working on for a friend..... and BB detection doesn't even come close with chords, meter or style. So if I plan to help my friend, it will be a totally from the ground up with out BB. I don't believe it picks a style for you. That is your job, and you have 3000+ styles to choose from. Sometimes not an easy task to find the right one that fits the groove if you are picky and want the song to sound like what you are hearing in your head. Oft times it is a compromise in style.

I have BIAB also and Herb (Guitarhacker) above is spot on. simple chords played well to a click are easily detected with good accuracy. passing notes and timing issues or complicated chords will not result in correct detection.

Very interesting video. I often take WAVs from BIAB into Sonar but never thought of going the other way! Cool.

I have BIAB as well, but disappointed that the audio files in the product are MP3 (as I remember). Because of this the sound quality could have been better, when importng to Sonar from BIAB.

Because of this the sound quality could have been better, when importng to Sonar from BIAB. They have two versions of Real Tracks in BIAB. The non premium version uses wmv files while the premium version (audiophile) uses 16 bit wav files.

Karyn mike_mccue I was amazed to see the chord detection Me too, how acurate does your playing need to be for it to work that well? (or did we miss 3 hours of editing...) It takes no time at all especially if you already know the tempo and chords you are using. The detection works much better once you've set the bar lines according to the tempo. Given the demo you would be hard pushed to need to spend more than 15 minutes getting it corrected. As Herb says often choosing a style near anything the one you are after is the challenge. It's a fantastic tool though and gets plenty of varied use here.

With 3000+ styles you would think it would be easy to hit the one for your song...... NOT!
