Sonar X1 and old plugins?

I recently upgraded from Sonar 5 to Sonar X1 64bit.  So far I am loving the changes.

Anyway, many of my old projects contain older plugins like Cakewalk FxReverb.  I happen to like that reverb but Sonar X1 does not allow that plugin.  Maybe 32bit v. 64bit?  Anyway,  What are you guys doing in cases like this?  Are you simply finding an updated reverb that you like and use that or is there a work around?

Thanks

Joe

Those old plug-ins are 32 bit dx's and don't have 64 bit versions available. Unlike vsts they can't be wrapped with bit bridge.

Or install the 32 bit version of SONARX1 as well as your 64 bit version. We're currently discussing this on another thread. Load your project into that and bring it (your project) up to date however you like using new plugins or the old ones as they work in the current 32 bit version. There's no reason not to do that. Just one caveat is that DX does seem to be on the way out - when we don't know but its obvious that VST is the preferred PC plugin format.

Of course that only applies if you need to keep working on the  project. If its for archiving I'd just keep SONAR 5 installed. It was the  first 64 bit version and even the 32 bit version should/might run in WIn 7 x64. I'd at least give it a try.

there are some DX wrappers that make Dx look like VST's that will then get bridged. Works with some and not others. If you google DX wrappers you'll get quite a few hits. You have lots of options but it ultimately depends on what you want to do with the S5 projects
Eventually though I guess the time will come when SONAR  5 wont run any more on whatever the latest OS is. I'd install X1 32 bit install all those old DX plugs and make sure that X1 32 bit finds them and then go ahead and load your old projects and save them in the new format. IF YOu DO ANY OF THAT MAKE SURE THAT YOU KEEp BACKUPS OF YOUR OLD PROJECTS.

another possibility is that you might have an older PC that SONAR 5 and your old projects can continue to be worked on.

+1 for keeping SONAR 5 on disk for your old projects. Up until now (at least since SONAR 4), it's been effortless to bring old projects forward. For the most part, you could also go the other way and open new projects in older versions of SONAR. X1 breaks that tradition of backward compatibility, so consider this a new chapter moving forward.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Plus I've noticed X1 has dropped the Lexicon Pantheon. On a new build I had to got to 8.5 disc to install it (just the plug in).
