Sonar X1 cannot load MOTU dll files

Hello all,

I have been a Sonar user since Sonar 5 Producer. Somewhere between Sonar 6 Producer and Sonar 8 Producer, Sonar could no longer load my MOTU Ethno Instrument 1 (dll files) or my MOTU Symphonic Instrument (dll files) soft synths and would hang up during the Sonar pre-scan loading. Both my MOTU soft synths used to work in Sonar 5 and 6 Producer (it could have stopped during Sonar 6.1 or 2 upgrade).

All these dll files from MOTU would hang up the scanning process:

ethno.dll

MOTU Ethno Instrument.dll

MOTU Ethno InstrumentDXI.dll

MSI.dll

MOTU Symphonic Instrument.dll

MOTU Symphonic InstrumentDXI.dll

Does anyone know how to resolve this problem or know where, in the knowledge database, I can find a solution?

I haven't actually used Ethno in awhile but I think that X-Ray had to be disabled for it to work.

In X1 click Edit > Preferences under the 'Customization' section click on 'Display' and then un-check the option 'Enable X-Ray' and then rescan your plugins.

If that doesn't resolve it give us a call or email us so we can get more info about your system/setup/config

+1 ,Ethno1 does not work with X-Ray enabled.  But he should be seeing the plug - it just shouldn't work.  MOTU helped me solve this but I can't remember the fix, and they've updated their support software and my TechLink no longer shows up.  I would contact them - they were quite helpful.

Or if you can afford it, upgrade to Ethno 2.  Adds a lot of instruments and loops and I had no issues with it and it works with X-ray.

So, I spoke to MOTU about Symphonic Instrument...
The Problem: The "drawing feature" used to create the GUI for the plugin is no longer supported by current operating systems (Windows 7 and so on). Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. Their developers are working on this.

Yes. They recommend using the UVI Workstation as a workaround. Download it here.
    http://www.uvisoundsource.com/uvi-workstation/article_info.php/articles_id/8

I'm currently using UVI Work... and it does the job, but it seems to have a memory leak. Continuously playing the tracks causes the memory usage to increase. I have 8g of ram, and my memory usage read 7.5g before I realized what was going on!

Freezing UVI sent the meter right back to about 1.8g, which is normal for what I've got running. Searching for a solution to this, but at least I've got the SympIns playing again.
