Sonar X1 crash when trying to load ProChannel preset on 'Master' bus
Hi, Is anyone else experiencing this? I just tried loading a ProChannel preset for the 'Master' bus and it totally crashed Sonar X1c (it then remains in Task Manager for a good 5 minutes before I can load it again regardless of trying to kill the process). I thought it might be my project, so I made a new project based on 'Normal' template and then immediately tried to load the 'Misc - Full Reset' template and it still crashes. Oh, I just tried it again and it crashed when I tried to open a preset, again on the 'Master' bus, for ProChannel and I just pressed 'Cancel' instead of choosing one in the file dialog-box. What's going on?? It doesn't happen on the other normal tracks - I'll try the other buses to see if they are affected. Also, when Sonar X1 crashes why does it take soooo long to actually kill the process? I'm running Sonar X1c x64 on Windows 7 64 bit. Thanks in advance!

Ok, it happens on any BUS track - I added a new Stereo Bus and just tried to load a ProChannel preset on it and this time I got some SONAR crash dialog info as follows: ********** A fatal error has occurred. Module: A crash dump file has been create here: C:\***\***\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer\MiniDumps\Test4_09162011_161944.dmp Exception code: c0000005 Address: 00000000035295:0000000001000000:0000000000001000 Asa a result of this SONAR is about to exit abnormally. Should SONAR attempt to save a recovery copy of your work? ********** After which Windows kicks in with it's 'program has stopped working' dialog-box.

Yes, I have seen this with my setup (although, not everytime I load a preset). I have also had a problem when double-clicking a preset to load it and a different preset loads. In order to stop this, I have to select the preset with a single click and then click "Open" to avoid any weirdness. I have also found the crashes occur more frequently when using ProChannel if I ever move too quickly with any related process ..... I have to take my time so ProChannel doesn't whack out and crash X1 (I save my projects ALOT while working with ProChannel).

I've just spent 20 minutes trying to do exactly the same thing and no matter what I try, Sonar DOESN'T crash. I can load the PC on a track, a bus, the master bus, all without seeing the symptoms you guys describe. I know this doesn't help but it's nice to know it's not a universal bug.

Thanks for replies. Yes, I would have thought everyone would have seen this by now if it was universal. I'm not sure why myself and dhsherbert are experiencing it though. I've tried restarting the PC and all manner of different projects, and it keeps on happening - very odd.

I have reported the issue to CW and I'm currently in an email exchange with them. They asked me to follow a process to reset things to defaults but that didn't resolve the issue. I'm currently waiting on some further suggestions. They have not reproduced the issue their end. I'm not sure what could be special about my set-up though!

It probably won't help, but you could try rescanning VST plugins with the "existing plugins" option enabled. There's another thread about X1 Expanded where Noel said this option rescans previously scanned plugins, something that normally wouldn't happen. Other than that, maybe a reinstall is in order... Good luck.

Spencil - please specify version of Sonar in your footer (64 bit, X1C?). Bristol - you are running X1B rather than X1C it seems. You are not telling us if it is 32bit or 64 bit for Sonar or Windows XP. And those who haven't updated their footers with their hardware/software - please update... That way we can tell what versions are effected.... At moment it's the blind leading the blind Ta (Lecture over).
