Sonar X1 crashes with Soft Synth load... (Help)
I get a crash everytime I try to run and load a Soft Synth in X1. I am still learning my way around the new interface, but when I want to play a plugin with my MIDI Keyboard, it starts to load, but program crashes!!! I insert the soft synth and load Kontakt 4. I click on Synth Rack View. I starts to load, but I get a fatal error has occurred. a crash dump file has been created. I get this each time. So for now I cant play any loaded plugins from my Synth Rack as I can in Sonar 8.5.3. Any help I can get from anyone here?? Am I doing something wrong or do I need to change/look anywhere else?? Do u need more information from my side about this?? anyone that can help this would be greatly appriciated... Thx...

I'm having the same problem, except with Native Instruments B4II. Only happens in 1A, not the original version. Did reinstall to confirm. Doing more testing to determine if this is only with Native Instruments, or others well. I'll report back my findings.

FWIW, B4-II loads/plays fine here in Sonar X1a (64Bit version) Do you have B4-II patched to the latest version?

also the old thing of using the NI stuff in stand alone BEFORE using it as a vst.. to build preset lists etc I guess NI are currently offering a crossgrade to the Kontakt version.. so I guess they won't be updating the original any more

I insert the soft synth and load Kontakt 4 FWIW, Kontakt 4.13 loads and plays back samples just fine in X1a (64Bit version) It's got to be something unique about your particular setup. Do you have Kontakt patched to version 4.13? If not, I'd start there...

I had the same problem so I called the Sonar Tech..ended up having to remove the Crashing VST instuments from the Vst program in the Program Files and had to send in the crash report to the Techie. The Vsts were Rapture LE, The Cakewalk Center...and Guitar Rig 4LE....all useless to me anyway but no crashes since in X1 or 8.5.3!

The easiest thing to do is run NI service Centre. This will check your installations for all your NI products and let you know what is out of date. You can access the update dowloads directly from service centre.

Well, in win7/x64 I have not had one single crash (except DP, don't get me started! ) and use quite a bit of kontakt 4.13. I know it's not what you use but I feel inclined to mention it. It's always good to have as much info as possible when trouble shooting.

One other thing to remember is that there is a library update as well as a "version" update IIRC, so you might need to do both.

Will be with the NI update via the Service Center as a separate download. SHould be Knotakt 4 Factory Library Update 1.0.3 WIn. If you just check anything on the update page that comes up you should be good to go as it ususally only shows the ones that need updating.

I am having this problem too. I have updated everything and it just won't work right. I can open Kontakt and add an instrument like abby road 80s drums and play it. But if I try to save the work I did or close down the project when the instrument is loaded X1a crashes. I found that if I remove the loaded instrument (like abby road 80s drums) after working on the project then I can save it without a problem. I can't freeze the synth with the instrument loaded either cause that causes the same crash if the instrument is loaded. One other thing is like someone else said....I don't have this issue in 8.5.....just X1a. Also Kontact works fine in stand alone mode and in 8.5 but in X1a it causes the crash. I really liked the X1a more than the 8.5 so it frustrates me that I have X1a on my system but can't use it and have to go back to the 8.5. I guess I should be happy that at least i can still work on my stuff but any help would be great. thanks. Win7 64 bit

Has anyone who is having this issue submitted a crash dump file? If so please list the CWBRN bug number and I will look at it. The dump will show whats the cause of the crash and whether its within the plugin or SONAR. Most likely there is something common causing this and we should be able to fix it easily once diagnosed.

I troubleshot this until I found the culprit: if you have "Display Synth Rack" checked (or whatever the words are), it will crash. All of my soft synths crash unless I uncheck that. I can't find the synth rack anyway. This is frustrating.

Kontakt 413, GRig4Pro, Abbey road 70 drums, Steven Slate Drums, Dimension Pro, to name a few all run great here-have not crashed or stuttered once. I am on X1a X64-Specs are below. 853 still runs great also, has not been affected by X1a install. I do not know if this makes a difference but I do have a boatload of Hi performance corsair DDR3 ram-12GB. I know it's not suppose to, but who knows? I also can use and adjust LP64Eq. The only issue their is if I try to change a freq while play is engaged the sound cuts out until I let go of the mouse. But it has not crashed on me once. Just hoping this info may be useful to others who are having issues.

I insert the soft synth and load Kontakt 4. Does that mean you're inserting Kontact 4 or another softsynth and Kontact 4?
