Sonar X1 keyboard shortcuts in a darkened room

Hey, how do you all see your keyboard in the dark or semi darkened room while working in Sonar and using your short cut keyboard keys? I myself, find it difficult relying on the monitor light and have to turn on some lighting which takes away the I'm in a Panup like studio effect and gives me a Bitfliper studio effect. Aaack!

Just get a Littlite or some other tiny light source. Of course, the LED headlamp is probably the sexiest option.

I have a small LED based strip light on the underside of my desk, above my keyboard tray that shines down upon my keyboard - it's bright enough work in the dark and under the desk to it does not shine up in my eyes - works perfectly.

This is not the exact one, but it's similar to this: http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-Under-Counter-Linkable-Strip/dp/tech-data/B000IV5PB0

And works like this (just over my keyboard):

Solved that problem by purchasing a Razor lighted gaming USB keyboard at the local big box audio video store.  About $80.  Cool greenish/blue glow to the keys is easy on the eyes.  Also useful when I get tired of struggling with a project and just want to switch gears and blast some zombies in Fallout.

I'm currently awaiting delivery of an illuminated keyboard.

Less than £20 delivered can't be bad for one with full-size keys.

Hey Lance, that looks identical to the keyboard I've ordered; maybe it's just been rebranded over here in the UK.

Seems like I made a wise purchase

I chose that model mainly because of the full-size keys - my pudgy fingers don't cope too well with compact/laptop keys!

From the ad, it looked like it was the volume control, which made me think, cool they put a mackie big knob on that thing!

Please tell me that huge knob on the wrist wrest is volume and not an oversize dimmer! Pleaaaase.

I use a lighted keyboard. The Logitech illuminated keyboard Here. Its a great keyboard even without the back light.

Yes! Yes! A lighted keyboard is THEEE way to go.

I have a Logitech lighted KB on the desktop and love it. Only drawback is it's not wireless.

My laptop KB is also lighted. This feature was a must when shopping for a new laptop though they tend to be more pricey.

Otherwise I would use a USB gooseneck lamp, but you need enough USBs for it and everything else.

John, after clicking on your link I see we have the same one and yes it does have a dimmer, I was so giddy just to have the lights I never bothered to look for it. I've edited my post to reflect the newly found knowledge I now possess.

Great Steve. I have had mine for over a year and it has been superb. Not a single problem with it. Plus it looks good. The key touch is one of the best around.

I just hope it lasts longer than the wireless Logitech I had before this one. The old one died after 3 years of use. Made me made cause I paid $100 for it and the mouse it came with. KBs should last longer that 3 years.  Mouse still works. Heck, my ancient x486 serial KB still works - had to use it when the wireless one died.

...wait a minute. If I didn't know better, it almost sounds like you works for Logitech... Secret's out, bub. Give it up!

Years ago I did a thread on this subject. Read it here. It was started in the Sonar forum.

I no longer recommend the keyboard talked about in that thread.

I had that keyboard here for awhile...did not last out the 4 months I had it.

May I apologize about that. When I wrote that I believed it would last. I never had a keyboard loose its lettering before or after.  Sorry.
