Sonar X1 midi playback and plug in device troubleshoot

Hello i am sort of new to home recording. i have been midi playback trouble for a while now. i will try to make myself as clear as i can. i am into covering songs. so basically what i do is: open guitar pro 5 and open a track in it,,,export the drum midi file,,,open sonar x1 and import the midi drum track,,,then record guitar over it..i can hear the midi file in sonar but cannot listen the midi drum track when i export the whole project as mp3 or wave using sonar..i know midi is not audio so how can i convert this midi to audio so that i can hear drum along with the guitar when i export it with sonar as mp3 or wave...

I dont have a keyboard that i can connect to my pc when i am using softsynths like true piano. Is there any way i can record using mouse. Step sequencer does not hold the note so it sounds aweful. And when i try to record by arming midi and truepiano and playing on true piano with mouse nothing happens. i dont really know much about it so please help.

Thank you

Make sure that every track you want to hear is selected when you export (either mp3 or wav). If you want to export all tracks just pick Edit | Select All or <cntrl><a> keyboard selection.

I don't believe Sonar allows keyboard mapping to MIDI input...I could be wrong there though.

thanks for your reply. i selected all the tracks and then exported again.Same issue. There must be some way to convert midi track into audio, cause what i heard its just a set of commands, no audio.

What soft synth is assigned to the MIDI drum track? If you do not have the MIDI track assigned to a soft synth, you are hearing the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth playing the drum track. The Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth output does not export with your audio files.

It is possible to enter MIDI notes in the step sequencer, piano roll view, staff view or with step recording. There are several virtual keyboards available on the internet that make use of the the mouse and PC keyboard but they are a poor substitute for a real MIDI keyboard.

Many plug-ins provide a way to audition notes using their UI but the notes are not recorded.

hi..i just tried virtual midi piano player.it seems to work fine.however when i open sonar, in the midi section there is only microsoft wavetable synth under output midi and no input devices..is there a way to make sonar recognize pc keyboard as input midi device so that i can use softsynths such as grand piano.virtual midi cable and midi yoke is just for 32 bit, i have 64..is there any other software?

I believe it does not matter whether they are 32bit or 64bit. They should work fine. Here are a couple of alternatives LoopBe and loopMIDI

I do not know what "baum;s mouse and keyboard" is? It does not sound like a virtual MIDI keyboard like the one I linked to above. The virtual MIDI keyboards that I have seen have an option to set their output. The setup should be as simple as installing the virtual MIDI cable, launch SONAR, select the MIDI cable as input, launch the virtual MIDI keyboard, set the output to the virtual MIDI cable. Deselect and forget about the Microsoft GS Wavatable.
